Cubs, Cougars, Clovers Win; Eagles Suffer Loss
Greencastles Tiger Cubs remained undefeated, winning their game against Sullivan Saturday night, 49-47. The Tiger Cubs are now 5-0 overall 3-0 conference-wise,
and although Coach Shelton was not pleased with the Cubs showing Saturday night, the Cubs remain in a favored conference position. The Coach emphasized that an inability
to hit and poor running pattern due to the Cubs not being as mentally alert and aggressive as previosly caused a slowing down of the team as a unit.
Hunter, Baker and Frazier were leading scorers for the Cubs earning 12, 10 and 10 points respectively. Sullivan played a good man-to-man defense, hustling well and causing the Cubs to play their game. Cox and Ridge lead the scoring for Sullivan with 18 and 10. Coach Shelton underscored that the Cubs need to polish jjp already integreated skills, and get back on the track, feeling that the upcoming weekend will once again allow the Cubs to show well. The Tiger Cubs next play State High Dec. 21 there, at 6:30 p.m.
Taking a shot in Saturday night’s game against the Sullivan Golden Arrows is Greencastle’s Connie Hunter who took high scoring honors for the Cubs--sinking 12 points.
Greencastle edged the Arrows 49-47 and next take on State High Dec. 21 there at 6:30 p.m. (Banner-Graphic Photo)

Different in competition, greater mental involvement, improved defense, outside shooting and rebounding caused the Clovers to show well this weekend, coming back from their losses last weekend. Clovers Coach, A1 Tucker, commenting on Saturday night’s game said, “We were versatile defensively, using a 1-3 zone in the opening quarter which proved to be ineffective. It caused us to go man-to-man during the second quarter and got us a one
point lead at the half.
During the third quarter we used a half-court presssuccessfully countering Van Buren’s efforts to maintain an even scoring level, then into

Points By Quarters Cloverdale 819 2119-67 Van Buren 14 181413-59 South Putnam lost their first game of the season to Cascade Saturday night 6156. Eagles coach, Tom Goldsberry, said that Cascade played an airtight defense and rebounded well, causing the Eagles to play their game. Also shooting well, getting good outside shots. Cascade kept the Eagles at bay throughout the game. Busy combating Cascade's defense, the Eagles were unable to do more than play a competitive ballgame. South Putnam was unable to contain the pressure-de-fense cascade used against the Eagles, Coach Goldsberry
noted. Leading scorers for the Eagles were Craig Sibbitt. Gordon Knetzer with 20 and 1-'' points respectively. Scoring in double figures for Cascade were Allen and Carter w ith 22 and 13 points respectively. South Putnam is now 6-1. and is still in good shape con-ference-wise. as most teams have had a conference loss. Coach Goldsberry. though disappointed about the conference loss to Cascade teels that South Putnam will show well this weekend when the Eagles go against Pittsbom. there 6:30 p.m.
