Opening lead - queen of spades. L. - The outcome of many contracts depends on how the defenders’ 26 cards are divided. Naturally, in such hands, declarer should shape his play so as to give himself the best mathematical chance for the contract. Here is a typical case. The opening lead is a spade and three rounds of the suit are played. South ruffing the third. Declarer cashes the K-Q of

trumps and the question is what to do next. If he leads a low diamond to the jack and the finesse succeeds, he makes the contract without further ado. However, the finesse offers only a 80 per cent chance of success and, if it loses, the contract will almost surely founder with it East returns a diamond and South later loses a club. Declarer should not adopt this method of play. Instead, he should plot a different course that raises his chances well beyond the 50-50 level. The line of play that stands out a mile lies in cashing the AK of clubs and playing a third round of the suit. One possibility is that East will win the third club, in which case South can claim the rest of the tricks, since East will be completely hors de combat. If West wins the third club, as in the actual hand, he must yield a ruff and discard or return a diamond — and if he has either the queen or ten of diamonds the contract is ice cold. If he has the queen, he is automatically dead. If he has the ten and leads it, covering with the jack eliminates the diamond loser, while if he plays a low diamond away from the ten, declarer simply follows low from dummy to trap East’s queen.

Body and control can be added to thin hair with the correct permanent and styling can be easier and more manageable. It is amazing how hair can be coaxed to do your bidding when its stubbornness is abated with clever techniques and constant care. These techniques are quite well known and professionally adminstered by our stylists. So relax. If you don't know what's best for your hair, we do, and we are always happy to serve you. ster of Boggy Creek, a cemetery, a seance complete with fortune telling gypsy and many other features. In true Halloween fashion, treats will follow the tricks at the Haunted House. At the end of the tour is the “treat witch", who hands out apples, and Friendly Joe the Scarecrow, a Haunted House

tradition, who chats with the children. Special group tours may be arranged for Scout troops, clubs and classes by calling 839-3651 or 839-2041. All proceeds from the Haunted House go to support the sorority’s philanthropic projects.
