Most families that plan to move do their house-hunting during th£ summer months. Besides the features of a house itself, they check into such factors as the availability of schools, shopping centers and other things necessary to the daily convenience of the whole family. One important factor that sometimes is neglected when a home is under consideration is the heating system, the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Information Bureau points out. That’s because the weather is warm and the system is shut down. Everyone sees the heating system but they don’t know how well it functions. Then, when the heating season opens, they sometimes find the system to be inadequate, especially in older homes. There may be drafts or cold spots. Having a heating contractor check out the system of a home you’re seriously thinking of buying is a good investment, the Bureau notes.
