500 Runners Expected For Marathon June 23
TERRE HAUTE, IndRunners from all over the United States will gather in Terre Haute, Indiana, for the second annual MarathonMarathon on June 23. The growing community event is expected to attract approximately 500 participants this year. Anton Hulman, Jr. will again be official starter for the race. At 7:00 a.m. on race day, he will tell the runners, “Ladies and Gentlemen, start your race!” as he fires the starting gun. Honorary judges at the finish line, some 26 miles, 385 yards away, will be Mayor William Brighton of Terre Haute, and Dr. Alan Rankin, president of Indiana State University. The event will again be sponsored by Marathon Oil Company, which provides much of the organizational and advertising support along with prizes and entry materials. In addition to the City of Terre Haute and Indiana State University, others. including the Downtown Business Association, Chamber of Commerce and Stokely-Van Camp are lending their support. Committees which are planning and organizing the event are made up of Terre Haute area businessmen, teachers and running enthusiasts. A Marathon Oil spokesman said, “This event draws upon the talents and generosity of a great portion oftheTerre Haute area. It is a community-wide activity of national interest, and we are pleased to play a part in supporting it. This year, entry material went to over 700 men’s and women’s track clubs in the United States, 180 midwest colleges and universities, last year’s participants, and to more than 500 individual endurance and Marathon runners. The Marathon race begins at Terre Haute Action Tams Move To Providence PROVIDENCE R. I. (AP) — After three frustrating attempts, Paul Lynch has succeeded in bringing an American Basketball Association team to Providence. “We won’t be buying the Memphis Tams,” Lynch announced on May 15. He said conditions imposed on the deal by sports magnate Charles O. Finley were too stringent. On Thursday, Lynch, a 28-year-old executive for a Provi-dence-based company reversed himself. “It’s our team now,” he said announcing the $1.3 million deal. ; Final arrangements were hammered out last week in Chicago by Finley and Lynch, who represents a local syndicate of 29 businesanen. Lynch said although negotiations faltered, Finley kept after him with telephone calls trying to unload the team that cost him $525,000 and had the losingest record in the league.

Except for the final
erage for 5.25-5:45 pm. New York Racing Association officials are expecting a crowd of about 70,000. The New York attendance record is 82,695 on Beknont day in 1971 when Canonero II tried unsuccessfully to win the Triple Crown. There will be no show betting on the Beknont Stakes. No Belmont horses worked out Friday but Sham and Secretariat were out for easy gallops. Sham, who will be ridden by Laffit Pincay Jr., galloped once around the li^-mile main track while Secretariat, ridden by Ron Turcotte, galloped twice around the one-mile training
track.
Other jockey assignments were Twice A Prince, Braulio Baeza; My Gallant, Angel Cordero Jr., and Pvt. Sniles, Danny Gargan. Secretariat, owned by Meadow Stable and syndicated for a

Right now folks 65 years old and older can get the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicare Supplement Plan at a lower rate than it cost three years ago. This application must be sent in promptly, so your protection will begin July 1, 1973. But send no money now! You’ll receive full information. Then send in your check or money order. Federal Medicare was never meant to pay all your bills. That’s why our Supplement was created, to help provide those coverages not offered by Medicare. You’re eligible if you have Medicare Part A and Part B, but you should act now while rates are low. There will not be another Medicare Supplement "open enrollment” until the end of this year. Space does not permit listing all the benefits and exclusions of this valuable health care plan for persons 65 and over, but here are some of the main features: • The low price—actually slightly lower than 1970 rates. • A choice of High Option or Low Option plans. High Option fee is $11.19 per month, Low Option is $7.99. High Option includes payment of the $60 Part B deductible—the Low Option does not. • There’s a $10,000 Major Medical Expense Benefit included. • No "waiting periods” for any of the benefits.
