This And That
In the passing ot Roland Headley, my deepest sympathy is extended to his wife, Margaret, his son, Jim and his daughter Anne. 1 know that in their hour of bereavement they also have the sympathy of Roland's business associates, his many friends and customers. It has been my privilege to have known Roland ever since he came to Greencastle. He will indeed be missed by all who knew him. IKK) It is tragic and most appalling the way the Indiana highway traffic deaths continue to mount. Fourteen persons were killed on Hoosier roads during the weekend. This brings the toll so far this year to 367 or 46 more than were killed at the same time in 1972. Certainly grim statistics averaging better than 100 a month. 000 In the wake of high prices on beef and hogs law enforcement officers predict that rustling ol these animals may become prevalent. 1 am told that there have been isolated cases of this nature in this
area. It would be a good idea for farmers to keep a close watch on their cattle and hogs at least until meat prices come down. 000 Saw Roland (Biddie) Lane, former county treasurer, in the courthouse lobby and he told me he had his taxes paid. 000 Also in passing yesterday morning, ex-Fire Chief Bill Lawrence yelling at me from the Penney Store corner. 000 DID YOU KNOW: Shanghai was the first Chinese city to have telephones, installed in 1881. 000 Yugoslavia means “Land of the South Slaves.” It is a mountainous country in south central Europe. 000 The gaseous element helium was detected on the sun by early solar scientists before it was discovered on earth. 000 I read that “the difference between a luxury and a necessity is in how badlv vou want it.”

Housed in the station will be two trucks. Total footage for the structure is set at about 2,300 sq. ft. by the treasurer who noted that the footage includes the fire house, kitchen, community room and two bathrooms plus a utility
room.
Discussing the cost of the structure, Ferguson said that “it would be impossible to quote an estimate of the money involved because we have had so many donations for “the project.” The department has emphasized that the structure is a community building for the use of everyone in the township, adding that the building is to made available for scout troop meetings. Any clubs or organizations of Madison Township are invited to use the building at no charge, the department Gardner — Continued from Page l “All we can think of to do is to perhaps let the public decide what should be done,” she

Later this week the Gardners will be meeting with Jerry Williams of the Central National Bank in order to decide upon what course of action should be taken.
