Mrs. Mary Liveoak, Teacher-Coordinator of the Intensive Otfice Lab announced the appointment of the following members for next year’s program: Terri Alderson, Judy Bingham, Karen Cummings, Vickie Cummings, Kristi Fidler, Debbie Dean, Debbie Hess, Susie Holsapple, Mollie Frank, Dianne Hinton, Debbie Smiley, Pam Weist, Brenda Walker, Terri Ison, and Sabrina Crawley. The girls were selected upon the basis of their qualifications and career objective in the field of business. The Intensive Office Laboratory is the Cap-stone in business education and is open only to seniors. Two of this year’s Intensive Office Lab members, Nila Stevens and Stella Van W'inkle will compete in the State OA Skills Contest at the Everett J. Light Center in Indianapolis on April 7. Nila competed in Stenograhpic 11 and Stella competed in General Office 11 and both placed first at the Regional Contest on Feb 17. The Fourth Annual Appreciation Banquet given by the OEA honoring the members of the Advisory Committe for the Intensive Office Lab was held at Torr’s restaurant on March 16. Mr. Dennis Taparo, District 7 Coordinator, was the guest speaker. Advisory members are : Elmer Smiley, First National Bank; Byron Snyder, Rockwell Ind. Agency: Joe Scott, Cedric Ray, Clay Co. RTC; Mrs. Ruby Barnett, Fashions, Ltd.; Arthur Johnson, Supt.; Forrester Ison. Principal; James Schopmeyer, Guidance; and Mrs. Mary Liveoak, Teacher-Coordinator. Forty-four people attended the dinner. On May 10. the OEA. in cooperation with Fashions Ltd., will host afashionshow for the business- minded high school girls. The latest fashions for both business and leisure will be modeled by members of the Fashion Board. Shorthand I students are working on the Gregg awards program in Dictation. Dictation is being given at 60-80-100 with transcription on the typewriter. Shorthand II students are working at speeds of 120-140 in dictation with transcription on the typewriter with carbon copies. This year’s yearbook staff successfully met their deadlines on time and final layouts were mailed Feb. 23. The advertising staff really worked hard and were able to establish a record in advertising sales. Beckie Knoy and Brenda Walker are Co-Editors of the publication.

Newly-Formed Science Club The newly formed Cloverdale Science Club is sponsored by Mrs. Hennegar, chemistry, and Mr. Coffey, Biology. They have planned a field trip to Indianapolis for April 15. The club members will tour Western Electric, Eli Lilly, and Butler University. One of the requirements to be in the Science Club is that you make a project. Many different projects are being made. Studying the effects of radiation on tobacco are Max Cassida and Liz Beauchamp. They obtained irradiated and unexposed seeds and have planted them to check the physiological^ifference (if any) between the two. The behavior patterns of mice are being tested under certain conditions by Connie Reed, Wanda Wager, and Connie Carmichael. Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation (Laser) is being studied by Steve Orr. He is in the process of constructing a working model of a nitrogen laser. Betsy Jones is presently growing crystals to study their structures and the basic formation of different types. While Becky Knoy is yelling at plants to test the physicological effects, if any, upon them. Chuck Jones is making a nervous machine to find out if all the yelling hasn’t effected him. Karen Frazier, Jill Henson, Sandy Cottingham, and Kathy Kumpf are studing the effects of alcohol upon mice. They are trying to see if their mice can run a maze as fast intoxicated as they can when they are sober. The girls are being assisted byJ.W. Dant. Becky Ireland and Donna Fidler have a light laser. Rick Zehr is making a scale model of a steam turbine. Linda Dailey and Brenda Monnett have an experiment with Nitro 55 wire. Cindi Reeves and Cindy Cassell are testing musical sounds from test tubes. Allen Hughes, Greg Neese, Larry Yount, and David Costi n are raising mice on a niacin-deficient diet. Gary Moy and Mike Walters are hatching eggs in an incubater. Allen Farmer has a still. William Morrison is studying plants after exposure to plant hormones. Jeff Van Devanterand Guy Sublett-undecided. Sheree Powell is recording micro-waves.

School faculty, the American Legion Auxiliary, to the PTO. Carl Whicker and Jim Gerlach are delegates, their alternates are Mark Young and Billy Jo Walton. Delegates for Girls' State are Teri Ison. Brenda Walker, and Donna Fidler. Their alternates are Susan Sendmeyer, Karen Cummings, and Vickie Cummings, respectively.

Literary Contest The Stero Type is sponsoring a short story-poetry contest for grades 7-12. All material must be your own original work. Only two stories and or two poems will be accepted. The stories should not exceed 250 words. The deadline is March 30, 1973, and the entries will be judged in two divisions-7-9 and 10-12.
FT A Members Assist Teachers FTA members are assisting teachers in the elementary and high school. These members work with the students needing additional assistance with mathematics and reading.
