For the collection of State and County Tax I may be found at my office in the town of Nashville, Indiana, until the FIRST MONDAY IN MAY, 1899, after which time a penalty of ten per cent, will be added on all taxes, the first installment of which has not been paid; and for the collection of the second installment I will be found in my office until THE FIRST MONDAY IN NOVEMBER, 1899. PAY YOUR TAXES PROMPTLY AND SAVE COSTS, The First Installment of Taxes (including Road Tax) must he PAID ON OR BEFORE THE FIRST MONDAY IN MAY, of the taxes for the whole year will beeome delinquent and subject to ten percent, penalty. The second installment MUST BE PAID ON OR BEFORE THE FIRST MONDAY IN NOVEMBER FOLLOWING- But any tax-payer may pay the full amount of such taxes on or before the first, Monday in May, 1899. It is the duty of tax-payers to call for property on which they wish to pay, and see that they have separate receipts for each township or town and see that they are correct before leaving the office. Tax-payers will find it greatly to their advantage to call early and avoid mistakes incident to the rush of business of the last few days; and those that have their tax complicated, such as undivided estates, are especially requested to call when we are at leisure, as it requires considerable time to make the division and make separate receipts. ' The Treasurer has no option in rebating-the penalty on taxes allowed to go delinquent. Call on the Auditor for errors or reductions claimed in taxes. Tax-payers are particularly notified that all Road Tax is due and payable with the first installment. No credit will be allowed on Road Tax unless the receipt is presented. Road receipts will not be received in payment of second installment of taxes. The owner of property on the first day of April in any year shall be liable for the taxes for the year. The purchaser of proper on the first day .of April is considered under the Statutes as the owner that day. [Section 103. The number of your tax receipt will be the same for each installment. You will receive your receipts in an envelope. If you will'bring your receipts when paying the second installment it will greatly facilitate matters and be of great assistance to the Treasurer. Persons owing delinquent taxes should pay them at once. The law is of such character that there is no option left the Treasurer but to enforce the collection of delinquent taxes, however much he may regret to collect the same by the sale of property. No County Order will be paid to any person owing delinquent taxes, and parties are warned not to purchase such orders, as they will he held for delinquent tax of original owner. The Annual Sale of Delinquent Lands and Lots will take place on the second Monday in February, 1899. - BEN P. SMITH, ; ' ISAAC TABOR, -Auditor Brown County. Treasurer Brown County.
