Dwight was the special cousin, uncle, friend, father figure, and mentor to an incredibly large number of relatives, friends, and 4-H students over the years. Mark Duane Anderson walked onto the stage of life in Muncie, Indiana on January 16, 1968. Mark took his final curtain call on November 10, 2009. Mark grew up attending Trinity United Methodist Church in Muncie, under the Rev. J.C. Williams, with his family. Mark has attended Union Temple Baptist Church (UTBC) in Washington D.C. for the past 16 years under th pastorate of Rev. Willie Wilson, Senior Pastor v Rev. Mary L Wilson Pastor, where he e jo /ed performing witi the drama ministry. Mark graduated from Muncie Central High School and cor tin tod his education at both Anderson Uriversitv and Ball State Unive -sity. Mark has been recognized as the first African American Page for the
Muncie City Council. He was a NCAA Track and Field Champion in the shot-put and hammer events at Anderson University where he also received an Outstanding Athlete award. Second to his family, Mark's greatest passion was acting. His first introdvction to what became Vs life journey was at i rinity United Methodist Jhurch where he received his initial training in theater. Reverend J. C. Williams was pastor and his wife Mrs. Rosamae Williams (deceased) was choir director of the Jubilee Joy Singers (youth choir), of which Mark was a member. Mark performed as a soldier in his very first play: “CHRIST THE ETERNAL LIGHT” (directed and produced by James Wesley Williams). Mark became a member
of a community based theater troupe, Expressions, a traveling troupe of performers who entertained with plays and dances, thereby, learning the art of entertaining. Mark had a leading role in an original production of DREAMS OF A FAR OFF LAND,” which was adapted from the musical 'The Wizard of OZ While studying theater performance at Ball State University, Mark's ability shined as 'Othello the Moor' in Shakespeares' “OTHELLO,” under the direction of the late Dr. James Hardin. This was a first for Ball State and an admirable premiere for Mark. He was also recognized as Actor of the Year for his portrayal of Troy Maxon in August Wilson's ” FENCES”. Additional stage credits include: Willie in”MASTER HAROLD AND THE
BOYS”, 101 BLACK INVENTIONS, “RESURRECTION 11”, “LIFE IS A SIGN OF THE TIMES” and numerous other productions.. Mark was a traveler. In his spirit of adventure, his travels took him to South America and Africa. He also toured the U.S., Asia and Germany with Pinpoints Theater company in his role as Rashad in the “MEETNG” by Jeff Stetson. His film and television credits included the “The WEDDING CRASHERS” as a secret service agent, a unit supervisor in the HBO series, “THE WIRE” and as Officer Fields in HBO's mini-series, “THE CORNER”. He was also a voice actor for Internet and television commercials and may be seen in a currently running T.V. commercial for Maryland

GATHERING AND RECEPTION TIME Friends may gather on Friday at 1:00 pm at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, the Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. will be a reception at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to Indiana Wildlife Federation. Cards are available at the funeral home.
Lottery. Mark joined the staff of the A., Phillip Randolph Institute as the National Leadership Conference Coordinator. Preceding that role, Mark had worked alongside A. Phillip Randolph's President Emeritus, Norman Hill as a Personal Assistant. From 2006-2009, Mark was the Stage Manager for Young Playwrights' Theater's Express Tour. He helped to inspire young audiences and artists by producing and sharing new plays written by dozens of D.C. students. This is a small portion of what mark accomplished in a few short years. He loved theatre but most of all he loved his family and friends and the quiet Spirit of God the continued on page 30
