Conley Library to host local Kwanzaa event Dec. 27
Friends of the Conley Library have announced this year's Kwanzaa celebration will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 27 at the Conley Library, 1824 E. Centennial Ave., Muncie. Myrna Robertson, chairperson of the Friends of the Conley Library and daughter of the late Vivian Conley, namesake of the library, the Kwanzaa activities are free and open to the public. The African-rooted
celebration will commemorate Kujichagulia, defined as self determination. It takes place on the second day of Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is a 7-day
celebration that runs Dec. 26 to Jan. 1. Each day has a emphasis and commemoration on a particular activity. Kinara candles will be lit and jambalaya
served in the celebration. The extended family of James Armstrong will be presenting the celebration to the Muncie community.
