BOOK REVIEW

Situations 101- The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Bern Nadette Stanis, Author Worthingham, Publishing, Publisher Sharp, sassy and with a quick wit, you’ll remember her as Thelma of Good Times. As the author of “Situations”, however, Bern Nadette Stanis projects a persona of sisterly affection void of barbs and sarcasm. In this hypothetical rendering of, unfortunately, probable situations, Stanis offers well intended opinions to the many factions , frictions and failures experienced in relationships today. The author quickly acknowledges that the 101 situations are all hypothetical and that her responses are expressions of opinion., not professional advice. The opinions offered are definitely world view, rather than biblica,! which is noted by an ardent supporter of the book. One must appreciate the candor and honesty revealed in each situation . For those living according to a world view, the book is a snapshot of the many issues found in relationships based on bad choices, insecurities and mistaking lust for love. Stanis’ response neither condemns nor condones the troubled, sometimes unbelievable dynamics of those who desire love and often calls for introspection according to one’s personal values.

For instance, many together on that field trip stay at home mom and my times, Stanis calls atten- that Mr. Handsome came husband goes to work tion to situations that are right out and said he every day, everything is so detrimental to the well would like to take me out perfect...

response: “ People do ask me for advice all the time . When I give my advice, it seems to help. I wanted to bring out these situations that so may people are going through these days. I felt maybe if they are brought out in the open, men and women can sit down together and discuss them. Maybe this is what is needed for us to discuss. Maybe then we can solve some of the problems we are having. I put my responses after each one as an option they could have taken. Since so many of the situations dealt with either fornication or adultery, one reader agreed that discussion was indeed needed. She offered this solution - celibacy. As Stanis tours with her book which sells for $19.95, many are wondering if there is a sequel in the making. In the author’s own words this book is a close-up focus on relationship dramas. You’ll ask yourself is this me? Or tell your self no I won’t let this be! The author recommends the book for women and men age 18 and older.
