HOUSING MAINTENANCE MECHANIC-A HOUSING AND RESIDENCE LIFE Full-time service position available immediately. Responsibilities: under supervision, perform tasks related to the plumbing trade: repair and replace plumbing fixtures, including tub, lavatory, sink, stool, water fountains, etc.; install, repair and replace valves, traps, supply lines, seats, stems, and filters; cut and thread pipe, sweat joints, solder, and make glued or mechanical joints in compressed air, gas, steam, drainage, condensate return or fluid handling lines as required; perform preventative maintenance, installation, repair, cleaning and removal on all systems; perform other related plumbing tasks as needed or assigned; perform tasks related to the carpentry, electrical, and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning trades as required or assigned; and perform other related duties as assigned. Starting hourly rate $21.34. Minimum qualifications: high school graduate or equivalent; successful completion of an apprenticeship program in Plumbing as approved by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training and four years of verified proof of experience in either Electricity, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, or Carpentry; or eight years of verified proof of experience in Electricity, Plumbing, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, or Carpentry, including six years of which must be Plumbing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable job knowledge can be acquired as determined by Ball State University; must be able to read and comprehend all specified policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials information, and university policies, procedures, and communications; must possess and maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License.
