Leslie Sargent is in the Youth Spotlight this week

Leslie Sargent

Leslie Sargent a 3rd grade student at Yorktown Elementary School has a 4.0 gpa on a 4.0 scale. When she started 1st grade Leslie was unable to read and most of her classmates were already reading. Now according to test taken by her school Leslie is reading on the level of a 6th grade student. She is reading in the top 99 percentile of 3rd grade student in the nation. Leslie likes to play basketball in her spare time and wants to become a professional woman

basketball player. Lisa Leslie who plays for the Sparks is one of her role models. Although she says, “ my mother is my best role model because I learn how to do everything from her and we are always together.” Leslie would also like to become a pediatrician because she loves being around babies. She enjoys playing on the swings and slides in the park. X-Box video game is another one of her favorite past time activities. Jennifer Philbert and Chris Sargent are Leslie’s

parents. Pizza and chocolate chip cookies are her favorite foods; blue is her favorite color. Leslie and her mother attend Full Gospel Temple on Sundays and Wednesdays where she sings, dance and is very active in church. Leslie’s mother says she is very blessed to have Leslie for a daughter.
