Ball State offers fall course for new leaders

Following an opening day introduction to the challenges of leadership and change, other courses will cover enhancing client relationships, developing and coaching employes, systems thinking, creativity and risk taking, and strategic planning. The 36-hour program will help prepare employees who will be leading their organizations in 4 to 6 years and it can also help transform a current functional manager into an organizational leader. Courses will incorporate group discussions, lectures, self-assessment tools, background readings and case study exercises. The program’s atmosphere will allow
Instructors will include faculty members from Ball State and seasoned professional trainers, all experts in their topic areas. The program fee is $1,750 per participant, which includes instruction, program materials, daily continental breakfast, daily lunch and refreshments. For an organizational sending more than one person, the fee is $1,600 per participant. Ball State alumni pay $1,600 as a special alumni discount rate. Participants can receive CEUs (continuing education units) and CPEs (continuing professional education).

3rd Annual Sfiare-A-9daircut campaign
Kids help kids in the 3rd Annual Share-A-Haircut campaign, Aug. 1 to 15, at more than 100 Chicago area, down-state Illinois, northwest Indiana and southern Wisconsin Hair Cuttery Salons. Hair Cuttery stylist Mildrid Luque of Chicago creates a new hairstyle for seven-year-old Chicago resident Jasmine Raeda. The program is simple: for every child's haircut purchased, Hair Cuttery will donate a free haircut to an underprivileged child in the same community. “One hundred and eight salons throughout the Chicago area, northwest Indiana, down-state Illinois and southern Wisconsin are gearing up to donate 5.000 back-to-school haircuts to children served by the Indiana Division of Family and Children and other local agencies." said Christi Osburn, regional leader for Hair Cuttery.
