The Comcast Foundation, acknowledges high school seniors for exemplary community service, leadership skills, positive attitude, and academic achievement. The program awarded 663 scholarships to students attending schools in communities throughout Comcast Cable’s Eastern and Midwest Divisions.

Local women honered at women’s

equality day program

Local women who have made a difference in the community will again be honored during the tenth annual Women’s Equality Day celebration sponsored by the MuncieDelaware County Coalition of Women’s organizations. The ceremony will be held at 5:00 p.m., Monday, August 26th, in the City Hall auditorium. The coalition is soliciting nominations from the public of Delaware County women, living or deceased, who have made a significant contribution in the

Organizations that make up the coalition are American Association of University Women, League of Women Voters of MuncieDelaware County, Women in Business Unlimited, the National Organization for Women, the Gender Fairness Coalition of Indiana, and the Coalition of 100 Women. These groups have been working together for

arts, education, religion, business, politics, and social or community service. A letter of nomination of 1,000 words or less should be submitted by July 13, 2001, to the League of Women Voters, 310 E. Charles St., Muncie, Indiana 47305. Women’s Equality Day celebrates the passage of the 19th amendment that gave women the right to vote. Those honored will be awarded a Vivian Conley Recognition Certificate. Vivian.
