adolescent females. The curriculum is approved by the Illinois Dept, of Human Services and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She has served on several grant review panels including the Special projects of National Significance Abstinence-Only Review committee. Sherida has also organized parents in the Chicagoland community to support abstinence education funding initiatives, and communicative approaches to teach their children the importance of choosing abstinence. Since the age of 24, Sherida has dedicated her time and resources to teach a generation with a questionable X; leadership, integrity, and morality that will refute and eradicate all questions and doubts concerning their future. Sherida ultimately believes that “leadership by example” is critical to the personal, social and educational success of youth. She feels that “Youth are the heartbeat of our community and as adults we have the ability to either produce a healthy heart or contaminate the very blood it needs to survive.

She let the Lord use her according to His will. She always pressed her way to church, no matter how she would feel. She always gave encouraging words and truly was a light. She never threw in the towel; she stayed in the
fight.
Though she’s physically gone, her spirit left a landmark here. She was truly a woman of God; she took her salvation for real. Now she’s with the Lord; with Him she does abide. She came over here to stay until she died. We love you and miss you, Mother Barnes. Written by Sister Corena
