addition to the online effort, Rent’s team will attempt to reach the public by

advertising through the popular press, in such newspapers as the Star Press and The Muncie Times and via Comcast cable, with the help of Rutter Communications. All area radio stations will also help in airing the message and keeping the community informed about upcoming

activities.

Rent is

director of marketing for Ball State University. He was born and raised in Muncie. He has a degree in speech and what used to be called mass communications from Ball State. He joined Ball State in 1993, after working in

the advertising

marketing sectors.

' What I admire the most of Dr King is his vision, his honesty and his forthrightness. He talked the talk and walked the walk. There are not very many people in the world that can do that. Even as parents we say do as I say and not as I

do,” said Rent.

In charge of the technical aspects of the Dream Tfeam’s operations is John Bailey. Bailey is a consultant with

John S. Baily Jr.

and

Ontario Systems in Muncie. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Governor State University in Illinois as well as an MBA from teh same institution. A native of Chicago, Bailey joined Ontario Systems about four years ago. He has since been very active in the Muncie community ans says that is what his mother taught him to do. He has an upcoming play called “Fences with Teresa Moore” which is due to be staged at Emens Auditorium

He is

primarily responsible for updating the calendar of

events on the website and coordinating with the owner of the page to ensure the public is kept on the same page in the event of changes. “It is a very interesting website and a wonderful representation of what can be done. It changes enough to create and hold your interest and has links to other sites, including Ball State. “I have enjoyed going

through the website each time I have visited. At this stage it is not feasible to have a dedicated website for the Dream Team because of the need for continuous financial support for

it,” he said.

On Dr King, Bailey’s memories wander way back to 1963 to a church at the corner of 71st and Green streets in Southside Chicago, when he met the civil rights

leader.

“He had a glow unlike that of any individual I’ve seen. You could tell he had a direct conduit to God. To me his significance is two-fold: one relating to his life and the other to his death. When DREAM TEAM SEE PAGE 45
