Bethel Church presents 2001 Marguerite Dixon Scholarship Recipients
For thirty-nine years, she led a women’s missionary organization. Mother Annie Porter recalled her dogged determination to make the organization succeed. Mother Portep recalled her efforts to collect and sell bottles, to conduct sales and to do all that was possible to make the Martha Adams Missionary Society achieve its religious and financial goals. She was known to take other ladies out for rides in her car and to keep people laughing. Always the down-to-earth person, she had one big goal. She wanted her missionary society to save enough money to offer a scholarship. When she retired to Marion, she still had not reached her goal. When she went on to her eternal reward, the goal had not been achieved. Although Sister Dixon, as she was called, never realized her dream, Mother Porter never forgot it. Along
with the pastor, and Dixon family members, Mother Porter
