National Bank closes Broadway branch in July
Due to its close proximity to the McGalliard banking center, Old National will close the Broadway banking center and transfer customer accounts to the McGalliard location on July 31. “The decision is not reflective of service or performance at the banking center. In fact, the efforts and
commitment of the associates at these banking centers are to be commended,” said Jerry Gassen, regional president of Old National. The Broadway Banking Center is at 1735 N. Broadway in Muncie. Accounts at this branch will automatically be transferred to the McGalliard Banking Center, about half a
mile at 1001 E. McGalliard. Broadway Banking Center, Manager Barbara Metcalf-Bell and several of her staff will be moving to the McGalliard branch. Old National Bancorp is a $8.9 billion multi-bank holding company headquartered in Evansville, Ind., making it the largest
independently-owned bank holding company headquartered in Indiana. They provide a full range of financial services, including retail and commercial banking, insurance, trust and brokerage through over 150 banking centers throughout Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Tennesee and Ketucky.
Governor, Gilroy form election task force
Gov. Frank O’Bannon and Secretary of State Sue Anne Gilroy have announced the creation of the new Bipartisan Task Force on Election Integrity. O’Bannon and Gilroy formed the task force to review Indiana voting procedures to ensure accurate and reliable election results. The 6 member task force will be responsible for conducting public hearings to gauge the accuracy of Indiana
elections and will submit to the governor a report of their findings and recommendations by Nov. 6. “Indiana has a solid record of fair and reliable elections, but last’s year’s presidential elections reminded us how important it is to make sure every Hoosier vote counts,” O’Bannon said. “It is important to review the way we conduct our elections to ensure Indiana has the most
efficient and effective election system possible. I am confident that the bipartisan members of this task force will develop innovative, well informed recommendations to make certain Hoosiers have reliable and trustworthy elections.” “I thank the governor for joining me in the creation of the Task Force on Election Integrity,” Gilroy said. “The members of the task force are knowledgeable about election
procedures and committed to exploring the improvements that can be made upon Indiana’s election system. We have an unique opportunity to put Indiana on the cutting edge of voting technology and to assure our voters that our elections are fair and accurate.” The group is composed of an equal number of Democrats and Republicans, and will be chaired by Gilroy;
