Cancer patients can be full, active partners in shaping own health Anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer knows what it means to have life suddenly turned upside down. Receiving this kind of news has been compared with being pushed out of a helicopter into a jungle war without any training, knowledge of the landscape or sense of how to survive. A new Complementary Cancer Therapies program at Ball Memorial Hospital helps people regain some sense of control over their health. This eight-week program prepares them to supplement the traditional medical care they might already be receiving through herbs, exercise, group support, stress management, humor and other therapies. Registration is being accepted for stage 1 and 2 cancer patients for an orientation meeting at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6 at Ball Hospital's Outpatient Medical Pavilion. To ensure that individuals gain the most benefit from this program, the number of participants is limited. To learn more about how complementary medicine can impact the health and overall quality of life for you or someone you care about, call us to reserve your space at the September 6 orientation, (765) 751-1449.
