UNITY, from page 1 even as you have loved me.” We believe that this service will be an impetus to revival in our churches by allowing all Christians to focus on our one God and Savior, not our denominational differences. The word of God supersedes race and politics. Psalm 133 states “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity.” In order to bring about unity of believers, members of local churches have already participated in a joint men’s prayer breakfast, joint Bible studies

groups, and joint prayer groups. The planning group for the Unity Worship Service looks forward to further Unity Worship Services and having other joint programs and mission projects involving the full array of God’s kingdom. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will be held at the Ball State Arena (Muncie, Ind.). A prayer service will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and praise and worship music will be played from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Child care will be provided for infants to two-year-olds.

WINSTON, from page 6 something. You must be involved all the time. You must remain visible all the time. That’s why we will be going to the Indiana Black Expo, Circle City Classic and similar events. “Right now the condition of the Democratic Party in Indiana is good. We’re doing very well but we still have some way to go,” he said. “We have good people in office but we need more. When I am done here, I do not want it to be said that I was just the first black party chair. I want it to be said that we also got more people involved and groomed good people to come after us.” Winston has been involved in the building and strengthening of the party, county-by-county. As chair, he oversees the day-to-day functioning of the party. He is also the party’s designated spokes-

man.

Would he ever run for political office? “No. Not at the moment. I want to make a difference. I believe I can do that without running for office. “I think we should involve more young people in the political process and leave something, a legacy, for future generations. It is not enough to do a stellar job as

party chair if I fail to groom others and give them an opportunity to get involved,” he

said.

Winston said when he majored in political science in college he knew he was going to be involved in politics. “I guess my degree was preparation for what I am doing today. I wanted to be in that field, politics. I enjoy it but one day I would like to practice law.” He also gives credit to Hurley Goodall for what he has accomplished. “I am very proud of Hurley Goodall. He’s a mentor to me, a strong mentor. He wants me to do something that will leave a legacy for future generations. How does a political animal like Winston relax? “My wife likes my job because we get to travel all over Indiana,” he said. “However, we also make it a rule that Sundays are going to be our day. We go to church in the morning. Then we come home and spend the rest of the day together. That’s how we do it.” Winston said he came to Indiana to attend law school. Politics got in the way and diverted him. “I still have plans to attend law school. I hope one day I will be able to do that, even after taking this side trip." he

said.

I have heard that there is a new type of laser vision correction, which can correct my vision so I don’t have to wear glasses. Is that true? The latest technique for refractive surgery, which is surgery designed to correct nearsightedness or farsightedness, so that use of glasses is not mandatory, is called lasik. Lasik comes from the initials of the terms used to describe the procedure. When lasik surgery is performed, a flap is raised on the cornea, and then the laser tissue removal from the cornea is done inside the stroma of the cornea. The flap is then laid back on the surface that it came from. This procedure eliminates the post-operative recovery, and gives people instantly good vision. The procedure has an extremely high success rate, and is rapidly becoming the procedure of choice in refractive surgery. It is quickly replacing the laser on the top of the cornea, which has been the most common procedure up to now.
