Vasilis Makris, M.D., P.C. Diseases and Surgery of the Eye 288-1935 3300 W. Purdue Avenue
I have open-angle glaucoma and would like to know how often people go blind from glaucoma.
Blindness from glaucoma has decreased dramatically in the last few years, because of improved diagnostic methods, as well as improved treatment methods. A new study that was just published in a prestigious eye journal, found that there is a 20% probability of blindness in both eyes for patients who have had glaucoma for over 20 years, and a 50% probability of blindness in at least l eye for those same patients. As diagnostic and treatment methods continue to improve, we look for these numbers to decrease dramatically.
Dr. Makris is pleased to announce his association with Dr. Robert Walter Dr. Walter is seeing patients at Muncie Vision Care, 3300 West Purdue Avenue, Muncie. To schedule an appointment, phone 287-9579.
