Nu Soul Nu Destination to perform June 19

By C. Dillard A multi talented group of six young men is a wakening our surrounding cities with a new sounding Jazz, R&B. Gospel and Pop sound. Timmy Edwards, lead vocalist; Dante Turner, background vocalist; Tony Billings, bass guitarist; Mark Coatie, lead guitarist; Emmitte Slay, Keyboards; Jeffrey Branson, drummer. Billings had the idea to form a group. He called Edwards with the idea.

They formed Nu Soul Nu Destination in 1996. Billings taught himself to play at age 9. He is single and likes sports. Edwards, 30, didn’t have to think twice about the idea. He loves to sing and play his bass guitar. He loves to sing because it makes people smile. He gives credit first to the Lord, for giving him his talent; his father for pushing him to use it; James Williams, for helping him out; and his high school choir teacher, Kathleen Newby, for pushing him. His dad, Allison Edwards, was a great inspiration to him as a teen.

Branson, 39, the son of Elder Jessee and Dorothy Branson, began playing at age 5. He enjoyed playing in church where he learned discipline. Jeffrey’s goal is to travel professionally with Nu Sold Nu Destination. He knows that the Lord's hand is in everything that Nu Soul Nu Destination does so he is very prayerful. Emmitte Slay, 34, began experimenting with instruments at an early age. He first started with guitar, then decided keyboards was what he liked. He attends Union Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoys kids.

bowling and want to be more of a role model to kids. Dante Turner, 28, sings background vocals. Lead guitarist, Coatie, was unable. Everyone in the group has a fulltime jobs and families.
