I have macular degeneration, and have been taking a dietary supplement to hopefully stabilize the process. Is there anything else that can be done to reverse the process?

There is a lot of research into this issue, since macular degeneration is the leading cause of legal blindness for the elderly in the United States. We know that a life of eating right and exercising offers some immunity against macular degeneration. On the other hand, there is some evidence that dietary supplements that contain zinc, as well as vitamins E, C, folic acid, magnesium, and B6 are all important in slowing down the process of the degeneration once it has begun. What is more important is that good diet and exercise is instituted prior to the beginning of such degeneration, especially in people that have a family history of it,
and who are therefore more prone to developing it.
