Adrienson, Yanita are in the Spotlight this week

By Judy Mays Adrienson Choix Cyrus, 14, attended Northside Middle School this past school term where he earned a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. His favorite subject is English. Choix, as he is called by family and friends, is a member of Christ Temple Church, where he sings with the youth choir. In his spare time, Choix likes reading the Bible, going to church and playing basketball. His favorite family activity is attending family reunions. Choix said his role models are tus mom and contemporary gospel artist Kirk Franklin. “I admire my mom because she is strong willed and smart. I admire Kirk Franklin because he writes good music and 1 enjoy listening to him.” He said the best advice he’s received is “to do my best in whatever I do and I would tell others the same thing.” Choix said his summer plans include relaxing and having fun. The best book he’s read, besides the Bible is Black Like Me. Fhs favorite movie is “The Nutty Professor.” Choix said his biggest challenge is trying to be saved in the face of peer pressure. He is the son of Adrien Cyrus and George Curtis. He will attend Muncie Central High School in the fall.

Yanita Gail Venable, 14, attended Wilson Middle School last school year. She will be a freshman at Muncie Southside in the fall. She earned a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Yanita was a cheerleader for her school team. In fact, Yanita said cheerleading is what she enjoys doing in her spare time. Her role model is her mom. “I admire my mom. She’s a good person and teaches me right from wrong. Yanita is a member of Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ where sue is invuiveu wim uieyouiii giuup aiiu choir. Her favorite family activity is going to an amusement park. She said the best advice she’s received is to “stand for what I believe in.” The advice Yanita wants to pass on is to “always think positive about self and don’t let anyone pressure you into doing anything you don’t want to do.” Yanita said the best book she’s read is The Face on the Milk Carton. Her favorite movie is also “The Nutty Professor.” Her summer plans include practicing cheerleading and vacationing in California Yanita said her biggest challenge is getting good grades in high school and going on to college. She is the daughter of Earl A. and Shanita Gail Venable.
