The first African-American Pre-Inaugural Ball hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus Spouses was held at the elegant Madison Hotel in Washington, DC. Moet & Chandon represented the North East as a regional sponsor for this event. Among the more than 800 guests in attendance were (1-r) Mr. & Mrs. Bernard Peillon, Vice-president, Moet & Chandon; Congressman & Mrs. Ed Towns, Brooklyn, NY; Mr. & Mrs. Gerald DePalma, Senior Vice-president, Schieffelin & Somerset; and Mr. & Mrs. William J. Richardson, Vice-president Corporate Affairs, Schieffelin & Somerset.
Carson Products has named Carla Allen as brand manager for new product development. Allen’s responsibilities will encompass overseeing all areas of the Savannah, Ga company from developing creative strategies for advertising and promotional programs to packaging, pricing and distribution. A native of Jacksonville Fla., Allen comes to Carson with broad experiences in the HBA industry. She previously held managerial and sales positions with various cosmetics and hair care companies. Allen holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Baltimore and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University.
Nominations for the 11th Annual Soul Train Music Awards were announced at Hotel Nikko in Beverly Hills. Scott Robinson, left, senior marketing manager, Coca-Cola USA and Greg Edwards, right, manager, youth marketing, Coca-Cola USA greet Soul Train founder, Don Cornelius, and actor/rapper EL Cool J during the nominees brunch. Entertainers LL Cool J, Brandy, Immature and Sherri Headley served as co-host. Soul diva Gladys Knight will join Brandy and LL Cool J as hosts of the 11th Annual Soul Train Music Awards on March 7, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
