Terrance, by Judy Mays Terrance Jijuan Johnson, 17, is a Muncie Central High School Student who will be a senior in the fall. Last term Terrance earned a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. His favorite subject is English. He is a member of the Muncie Central jazz band. Terrance formerly played basketball for the school's
team.
Terrance is also known for his stirring rendition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream" speech. He is a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church where he plays organ and piano and sings. He also plays for Trinity United Methodist Church once a month. On role models. Terrance said. “1 try to pattern my life after Jesus Christ. I also admire my mother because of her strength and endurance. She’s gone through a lot and remained strong. 1 also admire my stepfather. Lonnie Motley, because he’s given a lot of himself to me. “1 believe the best advice I’ve received is to put God first, then others and then myself.’’ Terrance said that his biggest challenge is to live in such a way that others can look up to him. *Tt is a tremendous challenge," he
said.
Terrance said that what he really enjoys most is going to church. “I also enjoy travelling and family gatherings. I love the fellowship, be it a barbecue or whatever.” He said that the best book
■—YOUTH SPOTLIGHT Kimeka are in the spotlight this week
he’s read is Native Son by Richard Wright. He liked the movie, “Coming to America.” Terrance’s ambitions include completing high school. He said, “I want to further my education and I want to be an asset to the black community.” Terrance said he felt too many leave their communities and don’t reinvest anything
into them.
Terrance is the son of Kathy and Lonnie Motley and DeWayne Branson. Kimeka Jo King. 16, is a Muncie Central High School student who has just completed her sophomore year.

Kimeka began her school year with a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Her favorite subject is
English.
She was in the choir and on the cheerleading squad. Kimeka is a former member of the Muncie High Steppers. Recently. Kimeka toured Europe with 20 other high school students, members of the French or Spanish Club at Muncie Central. “We toured cities such as Madrid, Spain. Sergovia. Spain. Toledo. Spain, and visited Beritz, France. “Our last stop was Pans. France,” said Kimeka. who is in the French Club. “We got to see gothic cathedrals. castles, and bullfighting; we went to beaches, art museums, shopping, and visited the burial place of Napoleon Bonaparte.” Kimeka said the group saw the L’ouvre. The highlight of the trip, for her, was going to the top of the Eiffel Tower.
While on tour Kimeka said her favorite dining place was the Hard Rock Cafe-Paris. She also enjoyed all the shopping. “I bought tee shirts, hats, colognes and perfumes for my
family. I also bought jewelry in Spain. Gold is not expensive there,” she said. Kimeka is a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. She says her biggest
challenge is to go on to college and “make my family proud of my accomplishments.” Kimeka is the daughter of Kim King and Kim King. M
