that hi$; aame''maj r; l|f, necessary ,yt is confidential? A. Absolutely. Only the person or firm against whom the complaint is registered i« informed ; ol' the nature of 1 the complaint, in the process of adjustment. Q. Should complaints be submitted to local NRA compliance boards? No. Q. Where should complaints be sent? A. All complaints should be sent to the office of the Indiana director, National Emergency Council, 2nd floor Chamber of Commerce building, Indianapolis. Q. What will he do with it? A. He will have it investigated by a field adjuster, who will attempt to have the condition corrected. If this fails, the case will be referred to the Department of Justice or the Federal Trade Commission for appropriate action. 90 Percent Are Complying. “Probably 90 per cent or more of Indiana businesses are complying fully with NRA requirements, but a few, either through ignoz - - ance or greed, az-e not doing so,” Mr. Hoke said. “Many people who know of such conditions, including employees who az-e not receiving the wages to which they are entitl-
ed, or are working too long hours, or both, do not notify us because •they-.do not know how to go about it. We want 4 it understood that justified complaints will be investigated in an endeavor to bzing about amicable adjustment anti bring the erring ones into line with the rest of the businesses of the state. r i “In cases where wages paid have not been up to code requirements, we will if requested by the employe endeavor to obtain restitution of back wages. If we are unsuccessful the employe has the right to sue in a local court for the amount due. A number of such cases have already been decided in favor of the employes. “This office is not looking for opportunities to prosecute or persecute anyone, but we are charged with the definite z'esponsibility of promoting compliance with NRA in Indiana. We try to adjust every justified complaint by mediation and conciliation, and so far w*e have found comparatively few cases that cannot be settled by this method.”
