BEDTIME SNACK HELPS SLEEP Do you like to raid the pantry just before “turning in’’ at night? Well, you may continue that “late snack” with a clear conscience now, for scientific experiments show it will make you sleep better. It’s better for the children, too. j But, points out Dr. Donald A. Laird, psychologist at Colgate university, who made the experiments, don’t eat a heavy supper. Eight adults were tested over a period of five months. It was found that they ,, stirred in bed six per cent more •<0.0(* when a heavy late “snack” was eaten than when no food was taken on retiring: and the movements were six per cent less when an easily digestible “snack” such as cornflakes and milk or crackers and milk was taken before retiring. As much as a 26 per cent improvement in sleep was noted when children were given lighter suppers plus the bedtime “snack.

COOK ELECTRICALLY in Wonderland ■ZVEN if it were always tea-time, as the l_ Mad Hatter protested, the modern Alice could cook in Wonderland while she was far from home. . . . At a Tea Party, perhaps, while on her Electric Range “beautiful soup, so rich and green” waited to be served, and tarts were baked so deliciously that the Knave of Hearts stole them away. / It is like Wonderland to cook with a modern Electric Range. Just turn on a switch, set a clock, and forget! At the proper time, you may appear, a refreshed and charming hostess, ready to serve a perfectly cooked meal.
