It happened that two men bearing the same name, one a Clergyman and the other a business man, were neighbors. The clergyman died and about the same time his neighbor went to California.. When the business man arrived there he sent his wife a telegram informing her of his safe journey, but unfortunately the message was delivered to the widow of the clergyman. Notice is hereby given taxpayers of the City of Muncie, Indiana, Delaware County, that a public hearing will he in the City Hall, Muncie, Indiana, on the 16 day of May, 1932, at 7:30 o'clock P M. on ordinance making special and

A CCORDING to a recent bulletin •fA issued by the Holland Institute of Thermology of Holland, Michigan, 50% of the preventable diseases are caused by dust-borne disease germs which gain entrance to | the body through the mouth and respiratory tract. Eminent authorities hold that this is stating the situation mildly, and that the great majority of diseases are caused by air-borne dust particles with their ever-present infecting organisms i The Institute points out that the air is continually laden with dust, and that during the winter dust concentrations in the air are excessively heavy due to the increased firing in industry and the operation o* millions of home heating plants. In late summer the air is filled with plant pollens of various kinds, and to these are attributed many allergic diseases, such as hay-fever. A practical means for preventing respiratory infections and also various allergic afflictions, is now available in the formxof a fool-

proof home air-conditioning system. This system cleans the home air by means of an air filter and washing sprays through which the home air is constantly circulated. The effectivepess of this conditioner as an air cleaner is attested by the fact that it removes 98 to 99% of the dust and other impurities from the home air. The conditioner also makes home air more comfortable and more healthful during wintek by adequately humidifying it. During summer the washing process is a practical means for cooling the air. Modern home air-conditioners, says the Institute, make it possible for the family to enjoy more healthful, comfortable air indoors than usually exists out-of-doors. The Institute states that many sufferers from hay-fever who gain relief by remaining for short periods in air-conditioned theaters and stores, may now be benefitted by having their homes air-conditioned.

this is not possible. When it is necessary to serve the main meal at night, it is especially advisable to include a variety of cooked vegetables with milk and bread. Often the child has to take a luncheon to school to tie eaten there in the middle of the day. This luncheon should be wrapt in waxed paper and carried in a lunch basket. Apart from preserving the food it is more appetizing and, therefore, more likely to be eaten when put up in

this way.

Adolescence The diet of children in their teens is usually that of the adult members of the household. Three meals a day should be sufficient with, as a rule, no eating between meals. However, many children of high school age rush through their breakfast and really do not get enough nourishment at that time. For such as these, a mid-morning meal is still allowable, l Tea and coffee should be avoided and the amount of meat allowed small—once a day is sufficient. Parents are often surprised to find that children at this time of life eat considerably more than adults. This is natural and as long as the diet consists of plain wholesome food they are not likely to eat too much. Highly seasoned food, should, of course, bo avoided.

Parents often wonder if a child should be allowed to eat freely of sweet things. Sugar, of course, is merely a form of carbohydrate and the important point is the total amount of carbohydrate taken in

during the day.

One disadvantage to allowing a child to eat too much sugar and other sweet things is that it develops an appetite which needs the stimulation of something sweet whereas the child who is not allowed to eat too much sugar acquires a taste for plain unsweetened and unseasoned foods. Sugar should be taken at meal time. Indulgence in sweets between meals spoils the appetite so that full nourishment is not taken at meal

times.

QUESTIONS. All wives and mothers should be able to answer these questions: 1. How often a day should chUdren at school age eat? 2. When should principal meal of day be served them? 3. When should childiren be permitted to eat sweets and how much should they be allowed?
