MEN DARED DEATH TO SCREEN THE THRILLS OF THIS GREAT PICTURE. And Hollywood swings wide its doors for all the world to see! America’s foremost aces! War Devils! And mail wingmen! intrepid stunt-fliers may be seen in action at the Rivoli Theater next Sunday, Monday and Tuesday when RKO Radio Pictures, “The Lost Squadron” opens with Richard Dix starred. The film is a distinct novelty in that it is a spectacularly dramatic and intimate inside story of the perils and difficulties met with in screening epics of the air. ! Most Unique Story. Besides the thrilling air sequences, in which a group of aviators deliberately set about wrecking their ships the picture tells a fascinating story of Hollywood. The camera takes its. audience jnto the mysterious confines of the sound stages, behind the batteries of giant sun lights and into the stars’ dressing looms. The story of “The Lost Squadron,” which incidentally presents Dix with one of the most powerful roles of his active career, con- ] cerns the actions of a director (who sends his stunt pilots into danger in faulty planes so that his I camera may record the thrills of
Remarkable Cast Seen. Erich von Stroheim plays the role of the directory. Supporting Dix in the film are Mary Astor, Joel McCrea, Dorothy Jordan, Robert Armstrong and Hugh Herbert. The quartet of flying daredevils who mkke the air vh'rills so spectacular in the film are Dick Grace, novelist, ace of stunt fliers and author of the screen story; Art Goebel, first to tty the Pacific to Hawaii; Babe Green, wqi’ ace, and Frank Clark, unsung hero of many a "plane crash for pictures. —a—— Maybe juries are just reluctant to mess up nice reformed prisons by sending in roughnecks.
