Fort Wayne, Ind., Dec. 26.—Fire discovered late Sunday afternoon in the Boston Store, a pioneer department store of Fort Wayne, was still burning fiercely last night with indications that the blaze will continue until early morning hours. On account of tbe peculiar nature of the blaze, fire officials and heads of the corporation operating the store were unable to give any estimate on the loss or the origin of the
fire.
Unofficial estimates on the loss, however, ranged between $250,000 and $500,000. Firemen Have Difficulties The dense smoke and the frigid weather added to the difficulties of the firemen, who worked in relays. Fire officials said the smoke was still so dense late Sunday that an entry into the establishment would not be attempted until this morn-
ing.
Several firemen were overcome, but all were revived within a few moments and no serious casualties
were reported. Pioneer Company
The store, one of the largest of its kind in this section of the state, was establisher when Fort Walne was a mere village, by the late William A. Hahn, who operated the place until three years ago when he disposed of his holdings to a corporation headed by M. Goldman, formerly of i Chicago. The latter has been active-
and for not less than par value, and
the right is reserved to reject any or ly in charge of the store. all bids. j o—

DECLARES CROSS-WORD PUZZLING IS CHILDISH
Rome, Dec. 26.—Premier Mussolini’s dramatic announcement in the Chamber of Deputies Saturday, giving notice of a bill modifying the electoral law, kept the political atmosphere buzzing yesterday. The Senate and Chamber, the embassies and legations and other circles were in a state of commotion throughout Sunday, all kinds of conjectures and comments filling the air. Most of the deputies have not yet recovered from their astonishment. The premier’s decision is interpreted as meaning that he intends to have the general elections in March or April, and it has caused something of a shock among the majority members as well as the opposition. Although many of the deputies and senators left Saturday night to spend Christmas at their homes or to begin their electoral campaigns, Parliament resembled a bee hive, where the leading politicians gathered to exchange opinions seeking light on the confused situation. Express Satisfaction Former Premier Giolitti expressed satisfaction that Mussolini finally had decided to return to the electoral system which Giolitti had always supported. This system, he argued had worked well in Italy for over half a century, since the constitution was granted; therefore it had tradition behind it, was rooted in the spirit of the people and responded better to the feeling of the nation, each voter preferring to choose his own deputy rather than to vote for a collective party ticket, which gave him the impression that he had no representative in parlia ment. -o Yeggs Get $10,000 Off Fort Wayne Jeweler

fun,” the doctor declared.
“There is no use for persons to pretend that working one of the puzzles
carries any intellectual value
