Mr. John Gallagher, n sub contractor of Jlr. It- "will cost much money, aud should' not be botched. Our Comity Fair Was a perfect success. It fully met in 3 the expectations of its most sanguine iends. Tho contributions, notwilhlanding tho general failufo cf finicultural products, was highly creditable to the farmers cf this Count. The show of horses, cattle, bogs and sheep, was equal in quality to any in the country. In mechanical productions, the exhibition waa not large, but of the tery best quality, while that of tho Ladies' Department was inferior to none, we venture, of tho season. In this department, we are informed' our County Fairs have always excelled those of our neighbors. It was truly refreshing to pass along the tables. groaning with the various products of the dairy and the larder of . our. charm- - ing country women. The nutter, cheese, honey, molasses, preserves, pickles, peaches, quinces, and various other pro ducts, added much to the interest of the Fair. . Tho Fair was largely attended the weather charmingly fini, and the order And good feeling manifested for three successive day 'a, was highly creditable to our people and the Committee of Arrangements. Long may they con tinue and prosper, as in their success is a germ that will develop and improve the varied interests of Agriculture, ' more than figures on portray. Imperative absence pleads for this xneagre notice. We promise for next week a list' of the premiums Awarded

Entertainment at Odd bellows and ßoniof Temperance Halls. The ladies of the Presbyterian Church of our place, held a social entertainment on Wednesday rtcniug, during th Fair. It was well attsndod, and hand somely patronized. The beautiful hall of the Ordera abote named, were well lighted up, And bright eyes sparkled amidst the jostling crowd of anxious patrons. The tables were laden with the contributions of "fair hand," and thoir contents dealt out by smiling at tendants on erery aide. We cougratulato the ladies on their a uccoss, and hope to record repeated efforts, by which the old and young are brought tbus so cially together, and their contributions bctowed on so descrying a cause. - 3 We would call the attention of our friends to the elegant stock of Fur nituro at the Waro-Rooms of Mr. Jo seph Schneider, on Main street, two squares south of the Valley Houso. He has a new rocruit of tho roost finished styles. His long experience entitlci him to a liberal aharo of public patrongo. He is prepared to meet all de mands that may bo mado upon his dou ble capacity of Cabinet Maker and Undertaker. The greater portion of bis. work is tho labor of his own hands, and may bo rcltf-d upon as substantial, being constructed) of Me best material. Thon desiring Cheap and sabstantial work, will do wad -tJ vUU him before purchasing elsewhere. Beading Booms At Connm lad. Tho Telegraph announces the establishment "of a reading room at our neighboring town, by a Mr. Montarge of that place. We heartily unite with our friends in wishing success to so laudable an enterprise. Tho I ntclllgenco und christian character of her citizetiM will uatalu so good a work. 'Attached to the reading room," we are informed, will bo a billiard table, for tho Amusement of those who may wlah to engage In recreating in this innocent and healthful exercise." This endowment of a 'billiard sa loor," as an appendage to a reading room, is a new feature irt the moral trailing of tho young men and youth of our town. To our frteiKi of tho TcUgraph, we modoatly suggest tho addition of a card tublo, of equal "innocent" ten dencies, and A fashionable drinking saloon, that they may at once, under the guiso of a reading roam, contain thret of tie hells that hure heretofore been foui d only in our larger cities, to curso and J on troy the peace and hopes of the "firo side." VTo have confidence in the morals and (christian character of the citizens' of Conner vi II, and shall expect to witncs a public expression, that will cruh out not only such sinks of iniquity, under iho diguie of ''reading rooms," but thooe who, as leaders of public sentiment, countennnce and sustain them. We have fast men in our ot. n town, but not bold enough to attempt. thus covertly, to got up gaming sinks, under the prct ncc of mental culture. The fire books Mould soon dispose ef such. Mr. Went consented surrendered prior contract for which ho had engaged the brick, and when ready to enter into this new understanding, was informed thatthe work was let to Mr. May. Did the Clique know of this? Did they not advise it? Did they not commend it? Why Was Ed.
