We Feel a pleasure in laying before our readers the following (resolution of the senate of this State, passed on the 4th inst. Resolved by the senate of the state of Indiana that our senators in congress he a id they are hereby instructed, and our representative is requested, to use their influence to procure the appointment of Benjamin Parke, esq. a Judge of the district court of the U. States, for the district of Indiana, whenever such court may be established ; and the president of the senate is hereby requested to forward a copy of the above resolution to each of our senators
and representative aforesaid.

HMI til B" We understand by gentlemen from E Iwardsville, that there have been between 60 and 70 tracts of land sold at that office under the President's proclamation, authorizing the commencemerit of the sales of public land in that district ; but we understand that none sold for more than J per acre The sales at this plaee. which commenced on the second Monday of Oct. lat. were attended by but few persons, and we understand that there were but 5 or (5 tracts sold, the highest of which went at $5 per acre. Kas. Paper. Report says that the emigrants who nave gone to Boon s Lick this fall, are returning in considerable numbers, to the interior ofthe territory, for the want of a sufficiency of provisions to support them through the winter. This is not owing we are informed to the scantiness of the crops, but to the vastly disproportionate influx of population, to the provisions to be had. tb. The court after bavins; read over the whole of the evidence, a well oji the part of the prosecution a on that of the defence, and after the most mature deliberation, do find the prisoner, .Major Gen. Edmund P Gaines, not guilty of either ofthe charges or specifications exhibited against him. The court do therefore honorably acquit him of the same and the court feel it to be due to the good of the service to pronounce, that most of the charges appear to it as frivolous, and the whole of them without support or foundation.
