Mabie I. Johnson Syracuse Resident Mrs. Harold R. Johnson, 93, of 150 North Shore Drive, Syracuse, and long-time resident of Goshen, died at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Fountainview Place where she was admitted Friday, Feb. 22. She had been ill one year and had previously resided at Fountainview Place, Elkhart. A native of Nappanee, she was born August 3,1891, and was married June 25, 1911, to Harold R. (“Cap”) Johnson, well known Goshen Main Street druggist. He preceded her in death January 4, 1977. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and S.A.L. Club. The couple moved to Syracuse upon retiring. Surviving are two son, Harold R. and Jerry C., both of Syracuse; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death. Services were held Saturday; March 2, at 1:30 p.m. in the Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Rev. Fuhrman P. Miller officiating. Burial followed in Violett Cemetery. \ Memorials may, be directed to the Heart Fund of Elkhart County Cancer Society.

Jesse E. LeCount Father Os Area Residents Services were held Monday, March 4,1 p.m., at the Harris Funeral Home of Syracuse for Jesse E. LeCount, 95, who died Friday, March 1, at the Grace Village nursing home. Rev. O. Rex. Lindemood, of the North Webster United Methodist Church, officiated the services. He was born April 28, 1889, in Kosciusko County and was the son of Warren and Alice (Stiffler) LeCount. A farmer, he moved to North Webster in 1952 from Wawaka. A member of the North Webster United Methodist Church, he married Florence E. Miller on October 13, 1909. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Kathryn) Juday of Lake Wawasee, and Mrs. Victor (Doris Gene) Ferrari of San Antonio, Texas; one son, Paul LeCount of North Webster; 10 grandchildren; and 16 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen Schermerhorn. Eva Brunner 30-Year Lake Resident Mrs. Eva Brunner, 87, of Franklin died Tuesday, Feb. 26.
in the Indiana Masonic Home of Franklin. The daughter of George and Kathryn (Sullivan) Henderson, she was born in. Terre Haute on May 28,1897. She was married to Herbert Brunner,' who preceded her in death. A member of, the Grace Lutheran Church of Syracuse, she had lived in the Barbee Lake area from 1952-1982. Her survivors include nieces and nephews in the Warsaw area. Funeral services were held Friday, March 1, at 10:30 a.m. in the Singleton & Herr Funeral Home of Indianapolis with interment following in the Washington Park East Cemetery, in that city. E. Jane Armington / LMstorg Native Miss E. Jane Armington, 95, of Indianapolis died Tuesday, Feb. 26, in the Carmel Care Nursing Home in that city. A native of Leesurg, she was born July 6,1889, and had resided in Indianapolis since 1977. Miss Armington was a member of the Bay Shore Presbyterian Church of Tampa, Fla., where she lived five years. She was employed as a counselor for the state of Illinois in Chicago, where she had lived most of her life. Her survivors include one brother, Charles M. Armington of Goshen and several nieces and nephews. Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary of Indianapolis was in charge of the arrangements. Betty (Carr) Stout Aunt Os Area Residents Mrs. Betty (Carr) Stout, 93, formerly of New Castle, died at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Brighton Hall Nursing Home of New Haven. She was the aunt of Mrs. Gloria West in Leesburg and Jack Carr of Syracuse. Born Janurary 17, 1892, in Silver Lake, she was the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth (Teeter) Carr and lived most of her life in the New Castle area. In Junction City, Kan., she married Dr. William M. Stout, who died April 4,1962. A member of the First United Methodist Church of New Castle, she had taught school in Silver Lake in earlier years. Her husband practiced medicine in New Castle from 1920-1962 and operated the New Castle Clinic. She held memberships in the
P.E.O. and Literary Clubs in New Castle. Survivors in addition to her niece and nephew are eight other nieces, Mrs. Janet Warren of Claypool, Mrs. Elizabeth Buecher of Wabash, Mrs. Gladys Tully of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Helen Williams of Warsaw, Mrs. Thelma Parker of Warsaw, Mrs. Beth Karns of Rochester, Mrs. Mabel Bause of Silver Lake and Mrs. Martha Stolen of Madison, Wis. Also the following additional nephews including Eldred Stout ’of Tipton, Stnaley Carr of Goshen , William Carr of Warsaw, Robert Carr and Wayne Bause, both of Silver Lake. Four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Services were held Saturday, March 1, in the, Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw with Rev. Lamar Imes officiating the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial followed in the Lakeview Cemetery of Silver Lake.

Hobart J. Friend Brother Os North Wobotor Mon Hobart Joseph (“Joe”) Friend, 64, of Fort Wayne died at 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he had been admitted February 23. He had been in failing health for two years. He was the brother of Lester Friend of North Webster. The son of Joseph J. and Rosetta (Chappell) Friend, he was born July 9, 1920, in Noble Township, Noble County. In Pineville, Ky., he married Vera G. Helton on November 12,1951. She survives. He was founder and owner of the A & B Foundation Company, a construction company which he formed in 1969 and retired from in 1982. He served in the US Army in World War 11. Hospital following an extended illness. She was bom on January 3, 1929, near North Webster, to Roy and Estella (Correll) Miller. She lived in Ligonier most all her life and was employed at Sorg Products there. Mrs. Campbell was a member of Zion Chapel Church of Goshen. Kuhn, 33, r 1 box 124 Cromwell, pinched his finger in a machine, causing a laceration. He was transported to Goshen Hospital. Brian Hibshman, 19 719 S. Huntington Street, Syracuse, was brought to the fire station at 5:42 p.m. Sunday, March 3, after receiving a cut thumb. The injury was cleansed and bandaged and he was advised to see a doctor as soon as possible for stitches. Ellowene Myere, 36, P.O. Box 454 Syracuse, was transported to Goshen'Hospital Monday morning, March 4, after she became ill. The EMS was called at 8:35 a.m. Virginia Putt. 71, 192 N. Shore Dr., Syracuse, was transported to Goshen Hospital on Monday. The EMS was contacted at 10;38 a.m. The EMS was called to a personal injury accident at 3:39 p.m. at SR 13 and CR 1200 N (Bowser Road). Dawn Smith, 19, r 3 Syracuse, was transported to " Goshen Hospital with a puncture wound to her left thigh. The EMS was called to the home of Lizzie Sloan, 66,219 West Portland St., Syracuse, at 6:35 p.m. Friday, March 1, after she became ill. She was transported to Goshen Hospital. The ambulance crew was called to the home of Robert Roder, 14, r 5 box 648 Syracuse, at 6:48 p.m. Friday after he became ill. Milford EMS was called to transport him. Virginia Putt, 71, 192 North Shore Dr., Syracuse, was taken to Goshen Hospital Saturday, March 2, after falling down some stairs. The EMS was called to her home at 6:50 a.m.

Esther Stichter Mather Os Leesburg Man Esther Stichter, 78, 505 North Clark St., Nappanee, died Friday, March 1, in her home. She was born September 4, 1906, in Hopedale, 111., the daughter of John and Mary (Rich) Good. She married Gordon Stichter December 18, 1930, he preceded her in death. She is survived by five sons including Loren of Leesburg; two daughters; two sisters; 26 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. Services were held Monday, March 4, 10 a.m., at the North Main Street Mennonite Church in Nappanee, of which she z was a. member, with Rev. John King, pastor, officiating.
RAYMOND CUSTER HOSPITALIZED Raymond Custer, 65, of r 1 Milford was admitted to the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne last Wednesday, Feb. 27. He is the husband of Fredonna Custer. He underwent emergency surgery at the hospital to drain fluid around his heart. He is listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit of the hospital. HENRY L. HASSE TRANSFERRED Henry L. Hasse, r 4 box 307-B, Syracuse, was transferred Monday, March 4, to Lakeland Loving Care Center, Milford, from Goshen Hospital.
