Atwoods appeal suspension
The parents of a Wawasee High School senior who was suspended from athletics following a March 10 party involving alcohol will appeal the suspension to school authorities. According to James Atwood, father of suspended senior athlete Jeff Atwood, he and his wife plan to follow the school’s standard appeal process in challenging the ruling. Jeff was suspended following a party at the Thomas Inks home on March 10. Seven other WHS athletes received a one-year suspension, one received a oneyear probation and seven WHS club members were disciplined as a result of their involvement in the party. In additior to the suspension, which prohibits Atwood from competing or the golf team, he forfeited his asketball letter for the past seas n. However, the Atwoods are contesting only the suspension. “While we have some feelings about what t le coaches’ council did in regards to the letter, we are only appealing this as it relates to golf," said Mr. Atwood. Specificall;, they claim that Jeff’s invoiv ment at the party was not suff sent to warrant the Numb er two man MOSCOW - Mikhail Gorbachev, the oungest member of the ruling Soviet Politburo, affirmed his p sition as the new No. man in the Iremlin recently in a speech stressing the need to continue an economic modernization drive begin under the late Andropov.
