SOCIETY OF TLIK A KM OF TI1E CUM !!F.R-
LAND.
DKTKOIT, November 16.— At the busi ne session of the Society of the Army of the Cumberland, this morning, the committee on the .subject of erecting a monument lo (ieneial Thomas, reported neveral suggestions through the chairman, (ieneral ifookcr. The schemc proposed is to erect an equestrian statueof colossal size of the Cieneral, and to raise the necessary funds by Miiall subscriptions from the survivors of the Army of the Cumberland, and fiom such citizens at large as may feel disposed to give email amounts. General] looker objected to the submitting of the subscription lo the public, fearing, if left in that, shape, the monument would never be erected. lie thought that it should be built by the Foldieig of Ihe Cumberland Army, and that Mrs. Thomas should be consulted as to its location. If she prefers the Central I'ark in New York, let it go there, but if she has riot a preference, he would say that it should be erected at Washington. As ieneral Thomas' character was national, his monument, erected by his comrades in arms, should be built on national ground. I lo therefore moved that the plan previously recommended by General Kosecrans, be so amended as to limit the subscription to the soldiers of the Army of the Cumberland, and to provide that the location should be the city of Washington, if Mrs. Thomas had no objection. 'The plan was
BO
amended, and was then
unanimously adopted. The Committee on Nominations reported the following officers of the Association, who were unanimously chosen: President, Maj. General W. S. Rosecrans Vice I 'resident, Illinois, Lieut. General O Ii. Sheridan Ohio, General O. C. Maxwell Indiana, General William (iro-ic Kentucky, General LSenjan-in H. liristow Tennessee, General II. P. Thurston New York, General Joseph Hooker Iowa, General William Vanderborn Michigan. General J. G. I'arkluirst New .Jersey, (ieneral J. W. Mindell Kansas, (ieneral John A. Martin District of Columbia, General Henry Stone Minnesota, (ieneral J. W. Bishop Pennsylvania, Colonel Nisman M. Smith Wisconsin, (ieneral J. C. Starkweather Missouri (ieneral .J. M. Scholield Connecticut, (ieneral Frank S. Uond. Corresponding Secretary, (ieneral II. Cist, of Ohio. .Recording Secretary, Col. John W. Stute, of Ohio. Treasurer, Colonel J. S. Fullerton.of St. Louis.
September 18th and 10th, 1872, at Dayton, Ohio, was the time and place selected for the next meeting.
The banquet to night was a fine affair. The usual toasts and responses were made, and the assemblage broke up at a late hour.

I have seen many persons enred, with only one iound lung, live and enjoy life to a pood old age l'iiis is wliat Schenck's Jlcdicincs will do to euro Jonsmnption. They will clean out the stomach, sweeten and strengthen it. get up a pood digestion, nnd give Nature tl'C assistance she nccils to lear the system all the disease that ii. in the digs, whatever the form maybe.
It. is important, that, while using Fchcnck's Medicines, care should be exercised not to take :old keep in-doors in cool and damp weather ivoid night-air, and lake out-dour cxerciso only ii. a genial and warm sunshine. 1 wish it distinctly understood that when I re..emmend a patient.'to bo careful in regard to taking cold while using my medicines, Ido so for a Kpecisl reason. A iniin who lias but partially recovered from the eliVci,i of a bad cold Is far more liable to a relaps-i than one who has been entirely cured, anil it is precisely the same in regard to Consumption. So long as the lungs are not pi fectly healed, just so. long is there imminent an ger of a full return ..of the disease. Hence it is that I so strenuously caution pulmonary patients Against exposing themselves to an ntmosphcrc that is not genial and pleasant. Confirmed Consumptives' lungs tire amass of sores, which tho least change of n'mosphere will inflame. The grand secret of my Hicccss with my medicines consists in my ability to subdue inflammation instead of provoking it, as many of the faculty da An inflamed lung cannot with safety to the p.T tient be exposed to (he biting blasts of winter oi the chilling winds "of spring er autumn. It should be carefully shielded from all irritating in lluences. The utiuo.-t caution should be observed in this particular, as without it a cure under almost any circumstances is an impossibility.
The person should hujccpton a wholesome and nutritious diet, and all the mcdicines continued until the body lias restored to it the natural quantity of flesh nnd strength.
I was myself cured by this treatment of tho worst kind of Consumption, and have lived to get fit and hearty ilu se many years, with one lung mostly gone. I have cured thousands since, and very many have been cured by this treatment whom I have never seen.
About the 1st of October, I expect to take possession of my new building at the northeast corner of Sixth and Arch Streets, where I shall be pleased to give advice to all who may require it.
Full directions accompany all my remedies, so bat a person in any part of the world can be read iycured by a strict observance of the same.

They will clear out the liver of all diseased bile hat has accumulated there, and arouse it up to a new and healthy action, by which natural and healthy bile is secreted.
The stomach, bowels, and liver are thus cleansed by the use of Schenck's Mandrake Pills but thcro remain? in the stomach an excess of acid, the organ is torpid and theappetite poor. In the bowels, the lacteal* arc wenic, nr.d requiring strength nnd support. It is in a condition like this that Schcnc.c Seaweed Tonic proves to be tho most valuibl' remedy ever discovered. It Is alkaline, and its use will neutralize all excess of acid, making til? stomach sweet and fresh it will give permanent tone to this important organ, a: create a good, hearty appetite, and prepare the tem for the first process .fa good digestion, r.n 1 ultimately make good, healthy, living blood. After this preparatory treatment, what remains to cure most cases of Consumption is the frco nnd pcrseverij)! use of Schenck's Pulmonic t\vri:p. The Pulmonic Syrup nourishes the system, purjfies tho blood, and, is readily absorbed into the circulating and thence distributed to the diseased lungs. There it ripens all morbid matters, whether In the'fonn of abscesses or tubercles, and then assists Nature to expel a!l the diseased matter in the form of free expectoration, when once it ripens. It is then, by the great healing and purifying properties of Schenck's Pulmonic Syrup, that all ulcers ami cavities nro healed up sound, and my patient is cured.
