l (;hai>t‘l Tair. r ck Chapel Fair, held at the grounds about two miles nortti of this city, w r as quite a success this year, especially so far as exhibits were coeerncd. A walk over the gronds on Tuesday was time well spent. The horse and cattle stalls were all filled, while the supply of sheep and hog pens was not sutlicient to accommodate the stock entered, and new ones had to be built. The show of hogs, sheep, poultry and products of the farm was very fine. Among the gentlemen exhibiting live stock were Messrs. Peck, Sweeney, O’Hair, Hall, Farrow, Miller. Lufollet, Garner, Linley, Randolph, Allen, Thornton, Smiley Bros., Nutgrass, M’Gill, Brothers, Turner, Gosling, Kosher & Bro., Priest, Smith, Glover and Lewis. In Floral Hall the exhibits were excellent, and notable among them were Cole Bros.’ Lightning Rods, Domestic Sewing machine work, Hardware exhibit of J. 1). Stevenson & Son. floral exhibit of John Wilson, and harness by E. Hibbitt, while the ladies’ handiwork, in the way of table comforts, needle work etc., was well represented by Mrs. Farrow, Mrs. Crow, Miss Mattie Allison, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Gardner, Mrs. Ettor, Mrs. Allison, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Fcrrand and others whoso names we failed to learn. Chas. Webster was also on hand showing a churn. Fine fruits were exhibited by Messrs. Hillis, Priest, Cooper, Chandler, Wood, Glover, Kosher, Gardner, Webster, Talbott arid Allen. The poultry show by Messrs. Smiley, Allen and others was excellent. In agiicultural Hall there was as fine a display of grains, seeds, vegetables, etc., as is generally found at any fair in the most favora-

ble seasons.

The attendance at the Fair on Wednesday was small, far to-/ small for the merits of the show, but we learn the attendance on JT’hursday and Friday was

much larger.

fl-tg-The Indianapolis Journal of Tuesday last says: Dr. James H. Taylor, assistant demonstrator of anatomy at the Medical College of Indiana, and Miss Delia E Kern, a very popular young lady of the eastern part of the city, were married last night at Roberts Park Church, in the presence of a large number of invited guests, Bishop Bowman officiating. The attendants were Miss Jennie Herr, of Brazil; Miss Emma Blake, of Greencastle, and Misses Ida Henry and Agnes Lennes, city; Messrs. 0. E. Holloway, city; C. W.DePauw, New Albany; W. W. Taylor, Greencastle, and C. E. Finney, city. Doctor Taylor is one of the most promising young physicians of the city, and his wife has long been recognized as an amiable and accomplished lady. They have the heartiest wishes of many friends

in their union.

8tB5"A special to the Indianapolis Journal, dated Greencastle, Sept. 13 1880, is printed below, though we know nothing of the truth or falsity of the news contained therein. Hero is the dispatch: Our Democratic Sheri If, Lewman, is still displaying his great love for the exodustors from North Carolina. Last Wednesday he led a a party of twenty-one, including twelve voters, to Indianapolis, where ho bought and gave them tickets to North Carolina. The affair was managed very quietly and was only discovered at the Union Depot by a gentlemen from here, who recognized seven of them, and to whom they told their story. Sheriff Lowm&n lias been actively engaged in this business since the exodus began, and as the election approaches will doubtless get rid of as many Republican voters as posiblo. ICEyAt a recent meeting of the Faculty and Board of Trustees of the Central College of Physicians and Surgeons of Indianapolis, Dr. It. F. Stone, of Bainbridge, was unanimously elected to the Chair of Special Therapeutics and Chemical medicine. Dr. Stone regrets to say that this appointment will necessitate his moving to the city by the first of October, and requests that we express his sincere thanks to the good people of northern Putnam for their liberal patronage during the past fifteen years, and the assurance that, while it causes him much pain to part with bis old friends and patrons, yet it is a matter of pleasure and satisfaction that ho can conscientiously recommend Dr. L. C. Cline, Ins partner and successor, as a successful physician, well qualified, in every way worthy of the liberal -rage and confidence of the people.
