SECOND SUNDAY SERIES CONTINUES AT SPEEDWAY CHRISTIAN CHURCH
The March program of the “Second Sunday Series” at the Speedway Christian Church will feature the works of Heinrich Schutz and Thomas L. de Victoria. Schutz’s musical dialogue “Father Abraham, Have Mercy on Me” will be sung by Dorothy Graham, Diane Ward, Martha Allison, James Simons, and Crone Knoy, with accompaniment by Special Day Of Missions Sunday, March 10th is to be a Special Day of Missions at the Northwest Baptist Church, 3470 N. High School Rd. Guest Speakers include Dr. Allan Lewis and Rev. & Mrs. Harold Burns. Dr. Lewis is President of Baptist Mid-Missions; Rev. & Mrs. Burns are 2 of the 750 missionaries working under the same agency. Founded in 1920, Baptist MidMissions is one of the approved mission agencies of the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches (GARBC). Victoria’s “The Reproaches on Good Friday” by Chancel Choir and Patricia Pirtle, and “The Passion According to St. Matthew” by Chancel Choir will be sung a cappella. The program is at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 10, and is open to the public. Child care is provided. Rev. Lewis is the son of missionary parents, and was born in a mud hut in the jungles of Angola, Africa. Upon entering the ministry, Mr. Lewis was a pastor for 16 years, having served churches in Charleston, W. Va. and Cleveland, Ohio. He has had the privilege of visiting the major mission fields of the world, his most recent visit being to South America. Mr. and Mrs. Burns have just returned from the mission field where they have worked among the Indians of Northern Brazil for a number of years. Rev. John Knox Presbyterian Women To Hear Review The Women’s Association of the John Knox United Presbyterian Church will meet Monday evening, March 11th at 8:00 p.m. at the church. The book, “Christians, Claim Your Heritage” by William Norris Wysham, will be reviewed by Rev. Laurence Sunkel, Jr. “This is a book about Christianity, but it is concerned chiefly with those aspects of that faith which distinguish it from the religions of the world. Converts from those religions to Christianity fully appreciate its uniqueness.” The Author. RICHARD STANTON RECITAL On Monday, March 11 at 7:30 PM. Richard Stanton His graduation recital ir piano in room 160 of Lilly Hall on the Butler University campus. Included in the program will be works by Scriabine, Schumann, and the first public performance since 1850 of a virtuoso work by Carl Czerny. The public is cordially invited to attend. Lilly Hall is located next door to Clowes Hall. Richard has been accepted at the Cleveland Institute of Music for graduate study with pianist and scholar Arthur Loesser.
