TOWN NOTKB (Continued from Page 1) ties which will enable it to transmit the race by the way of closed circuit television. The Board agreed, if the Goodyear Company would indemnify the Town of damages. The City of Indianapolis must also give their consent before the blimp may be flown in a practice flight and for the race. The Town resolved to store unclaimed articles for a period of 4 months. If the articles are not claimed within the 4 month duration they will be sold at public auction. The Speedway Flyer will carry notices of items that are to be auctioned off. The Board directed Town Attorney, Henry Ryder, to investigate a statute which would aid the Town in enforcing curb and sidewalk repairs. It was pointed out that certain property owners are not repairing their sidewalks when they become hazardous to pedestrians. Roger Pate, representative from L. I. Couch Engineering Company, discussed the possibility of a relief storm sewer running parallel along 20th Street to a combination sewer. This would alleviate the excess water in that area of land West of Lyndhurst Drive and North of U. S. 136 and would empty into Dry Run Creek. The Board agreed to purchase an American Public Works Association subscription in the hopes that the case studies will supply the Town with answers and ideas in order to cope with rising residential, commercial, and industrial problems. The subscription rate is S3O per year which includes access to their library of municipal problems. Street Superintendent, Lou Jackson, attended a road refresher course at Purdue University, March 24 and 25. Placements for at least 24 sanitary restrooms the night before the 500-Mile Race were to be ordered by Sanitary Superintendent, Cal Morgan. Mr. Morgan will report at the next regular Board meeting the locations he considers warranting restrooms. Also, Max Williams, Water Superintendent, reported that he would have drinking fountains for the hydrants for the race crowd. Lyndhurst Drive. South of Winton Avenue to 21st Street, is presently in the process of being widened at an estimated cost of $45,000. Crawfordsville Farms is contributing $15,000 toward the improvement of Lyndhurst widening. , : - - Speedway’s Fire Chief, Cledith Stephens, talked to the store managers from which black soot-filled smoke arises in the Speedway Shopping Center. Mrs. Stephens recommended that the store purchase an incinerator that will alleviate the black smoke. The Board withheld legal action pending co-operation from the offenders. The Speedway Girl Scouts requested permission to use the Water Works farm land at 42nd Street and County Line Road from June 9 to July 30 for day camping. The Board consented to the request again this year.
