Judge Mott Annuls
Maude Robertson's Marriage When Maude D. Robertson took the stand to testify in her own be half in the divorce proceeding j npainrt her hu?tund. Clarence Rob- J rrtson, in the St. Joseph superior court Saturday night, she was inforrnej by Jude T. D. Mott that her marriage would be annulled. This was the first time in the history of the superior court that a night session has been held. ThLs was done to clear up the docket for this pessior; of court. In her testimony. Mrs. Robertson told the court that she was only 13 years of age, and that, as both she and her husband were not old enough under the laws of Indiana to get married, they went to iSt. Joseph, Mich., to avoid this law. Jude Mott then claimed that under the existing state law such a marriage would not be acknowledged a,s legal. It was decided, after a heated argument, that the marriage be annulled. In her complaint for divorce the plaintiff alleged that her husband called her vile names, struck and choked her. She claimed that on Oct. 1C the defendant told her to go out on the street and earn a living In any way she could. An absolute divorce and the custody of her minor child was granted to Mrs. Suda Old father from David oldfather in superior court Saturday night. In her complaint the plaintiff alleged that the defendant accused her of infidelity and that, while ill, he struck her and refused to pay her doctor bills. The plaintiff was given 54 a week to pay for the support of their child. NEED NOT REGISTER W. S.S. BEFORE JAN. 1 The 131 S series of War Saving stamps need not be registered before the first of the year. This announcement was made at the postotflce Saturday morning and was occasioned hy the rush during the last few days to have stamps repisterei. The great number of people who have appeared at the pos-tottice dur ing the past week for that purpose , has led the postal authorities to th-? conclusion that many people believe that the present issue cannot be registered after Jan. 1. The postal authorities also wish to urge people not to cash their War Savings stamps. There has been an unusually large number of stamps cashed during- the last month, which should not be so, as the provernmental need for war funds is by no means ended.
