ENGLISH LUTHERANS ENDORSE PRESIDENT The Enelish Lutheran church was crowded at last night's service, which was of a patriotic nature, .lay H. Weygandt. a student of the Theological seminary at Maywooil, 111., delivered a vigorous address in which he appealed to his hearers to stand by the president in the attitude the country had taken against Germany, which was one of righteousness. The evening's program included music and patriotic drill. About $100 damage was done to the home of Henry Hoetlinger, 1 no Tj N. Main st., by fire Sunday morning about H o'clock and but for the prompt arrival of the fire department the building would likely soon have been destroyed. The alarm was given by a neighbor who saw the smoke pouring out of one of the windows. None of the Hoerlinger family were at home at the time of the blaze, which is supposed to have started from a lighted match thrown into a waste paper i box in the kitchen. Edwards as pastor of the Methodist Memorial church, delivered his first sermon here yesterday morning, his subject belntr "The Implications of the Resurrection" and in the evening spoke on "The Ixst Easter", from John 21:17, "Eovest Thou No More Than These." Miss Nina Gable of Northwestern university presided as orpanist in the absence of Mrs. Williams, the regular organist, who is 111. Mishawaka's new pastor will move his family, consisting of wife. three daughters and one son from Marion. Ind., to this city next Wednesday, and will occupy the residence on W. Lincoln way vacated by, Dr. Edwards. He is a graduate of He I'atiw university and of postgraduate courses in Northwestern and Chicago universities. He has a pleasing personality and will no doubt soon make many friends in the city. ELOPE TO ST. The wedding was very much of a surprise to the relatives of the young people who had not been apprised of the affair. Without letting their intentions be known the principals went to St. Joseph during the afternoon returning to Mishawaka last night to receive the blessing of their parents.. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. "rank Kaufman, and has been em- ! ployed at the Premier Red factory as bookkeeper. The groom is the son of Mrs. Ella R. Feller. Keasey st.. Thieves drove up in an automobile to the home of Charles Frazier, 19T.1 Lincoln way W., Saturday night about 1 1 : CO o'clock.
