Patrolman Edward Quirk was arrested by a deputy sheriff on a grand jury indictment charging him with drawing a deadly weapon. The arrest is the outgrowth of a brutal assault on Franl: Whitney, a prominent "dry" worker, about a year ago, who as he was leaving the police station after having- been arrested, was attacked by a mob of "wet" sympathizers, and was nearly killed.
