Are You Planning Your Motor Trip ? WOUNDED SOLDIERS ' ARE LEFT TO DIE No Chance to Ileeoier .Men Injured in Battle During Daylight. LONDON. July 17. Why su many wounded soldiers die is explained in tho current issue of the Lancet. "The trenches face each other." says the article, "and are only a very short distance apart. "When an attack is delivered the majority of the wounded fall in the unsheltered space between the trenched. "When the stnmgle is over this space is carefully watched and the slightest movement brings n volley from the rilles or machine guns. It is only at night that some of th-j wounded may be able to crawl back to their trenches. "It is the cruel fact that aid reachra the wounded very late, if at all, that accounts chiefly for the high death rate. "It is suggested that women dressed in some very conspicuous manner might be employed to remove the wounded, for there would be no possibility of mistaking their pacific purpose."
