She is to marry Benjamin It. Bell of Fort "Wayne, who came to California with a certificate issued by the Indiana state board of health, which ho secured with the assistance of Mrs. William Jennings Bryan. Bell converted his bride-to-be. who scoffed at first. "I think it's a splendid idea!" said Miss Van Slyke this evening. "Everybody ought to emulate it." . Dr. Ferguson declared the; bride the most perfect specimen of womanhood Bho had ever seen.

URGE SHARP OF OHIO FOR RUSSIAN POST WASHIXGTOX. Feb. .".Pres. Wilson Thursday was urged to appoint Hep. William G. Sharp of Ohio as ambassador to Russia, the post recently resigned by Henry M. Pindell of Peoria, 111. Sen. Pomercne of Ohio called at the whito house for this express purpose and said that the entire Ohio delegation in congress has endorsed Rep. Sharp. The president took the recommendation under advisement.
