1 " Efguhrity in Frcdins Talllf. . -J5tcphvusiu 1-isJL.Book of ihe Farm,' girw the-following illusuaticn of the iieceaitT of regularity and method of agricultural du'irs; - - .. ' la thus minutely dtt-nling the Julies of the cattle man, my object has been to fhow joa rath?r how the turnips and fid--der should be distributed relatively than abso!ately; but whiterer hour end min ute the c ttlc man finds, from experience, he caudevotc to each portion of his work, , you should see Ihit he performs the same operation at tue same tune every ur.BM.ismun;ruui iu .uu iu cattle w.ll be ready for nnd expect their ) wnntd ir.n!5 a t tha a nnointe.d times, and will not com ..la in until ther arrive. - - -, , Comrdainta from his stock should be d:s-1 treisinz to eiery finr.er's car3. for he may be assured that they will not complain until they feel hunger, and if allow ed to hunger, they will not only lose contittion. but render themselves by discontent less capable of acquiring it when the food is fully given. Whem-ver you hear lowings from cattle, you imy sifely conclude that matters ate conducted therein an irregular mannt!. The cattle man's! rule is a simple one, and easily rememtared Give fond and fodder to cattle nt fixd times, and dispense them in a fix-d routine. I had a s'.rikin instance of the bad effects of the irregular attention to cattle. An old s:aid laborer was appointed to tnke charge, of cattle, and ws quite able and willing to undertake the task. He got his own way nt first, ns I had observed many laboring men display great ingenuity in arranging their work. Lowings were soon' heard from the stock in all quarters, both in and nut of doors, which intimation the want of regularity in the cattle man; whilst the poor creature himseK was in a constant state of bustle and uneasiness. To put an end to this disorderly state of things. I appointed his entire day's work by his own wilch, and on implicitly following tho plan he not only soon satisfied the wants of every animal committed to his charge, but had abundant leisure to lend a helping hand to anything that required his temporary assistance. His old heart overflowed with gratitude when he found the way of making a!! his creatures bappy and his kindness to them was ao uudeviating. lhay would have done whatever he liked. Sawdust for Seddin Duringa short sojourn in Ohio, we vis o ited most of the livery stables, and found that the only bedding in uso was sawdust. The proprietors of each stable all us'.ifi'd that it was far superior tu hay or straw; and in those times of scarcity, it must, in certain localities, be more economical. Without doubt, sawdust absorbs a lnrge amount of urine, and alsci its ammoniacol gasef; preventing the one from saturating the stable floor, and the latter from deteriorating the stable atmosphere. Sawdust occupies !es bulk than straw, nd at the same time, affords as soft a bed; the filthy can readily be seperated from that which is useful, nnd with the admixture of fair proportion of excrements, from a Taluable fertilizer. Some person, however, may object to the use of sawdust on account of its absorbent propertief, which acting on the horse hoofj may tend to render them dry and brittle, and utterly impair the function of the tame. Should this be the case, we hive only to ttufflhe hoofs with moist clay, or even wash them a little oftener. and the evil, if it exists, can be remedied. One half of the stable keepers in New England, and elsewhere, have, during ih? past year, been sorely puzzied to provide sufficient bedding; and unless some better and cheaper material turns up, we wonld advise the interested, to try sawdust. Perhaps the addition of a few vhavmgs tsight be advantageous: but, try sawdust. Am. Vet Journal. New Method of Raisins Fto.it Trees. The Patent Office is in receipt of information from Engländer, regard to raising fruit trees in what are termed orchard houses, by planting small trees in pots. The writer saya that a few old ashes, some pots and weather-boarding, ore all that is necessary to constitute a bouse for , trying the experiment. Snnc experi menu were made last winter under the management of Mr. Görden, in the rose house in the garden of the Horticultural Society. London. A variety of young dwarf fruit trees ware placed in pots from twelve to fourteen inches in diamater. and as many as the house would hold were collected in it. This h usa is span roofed, between fifty and sixty feet long, has half its sashes sliding down and the other fixed. There is additional veiltellatton through the doors which fall down in the wooden sides but there U no artificial htat. The success attending this experiment was highly satisfactory. Thefiuit was abundant, highly flavored, and of a superior quality, among which are classed strawberirs, gooseberries, currants, apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums, jeari, figs, grares, &c. II ant op the Merk Bed. Before the ground becomes filled with water, and especially before it ia closed by frost, a large amount of muck or earth which is mixed with decaying leaves and other vegetable matter, should be heaped up, ready to be drawn to the yard during the winter, and mingled with the droppings of'domestic animals. By this course the manure itself will bo rendered doubly valuable and the vegetable matter thus1 nddedwill furnish a large amount of excellent" food for futuia crops. Do not ne ttled this.
