Obituaries... Doric Lemler DSC. 15,1*77-Oct X, IMS Deric DeWayne Lemler, 7, R 2, Nappanee, died Saturday, October SI, at *:Ssp.m., at Bremen Community Hospital, approximately one and one-half hours after being injured in a farm accident. According to state police reports, the accident occurred at the home of Dies in Accident the youth’s grandparents, the Harvey Teeters, four miles south of Bremen, on Fir Road. The boy had been riding on a wagon tongue, while his father was driving a tractor which was pulling the wagon. Deric fell from the wagon, and was run over. He was taken tjL-SreUlen hospital Deric was born December 15,1977, in Goshen, the son of W. DeWayne and Sharon A. Avery Lemler. He was a second grade student at Nappanee Central School. He attended the First Church of God, Nappanee, was champion in several tractor pedal pulling contests, and participated in the North Wood High School wrestling program for elementary school children. He enjoyed working on the farm. Surviving with his parents are a sister, Lorie Lynn Lemler, at home; two brothers: Isaac Wayne Lemler, and Kyle James Lemler, both at home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Lemler, Rl, Nappanee; paternal great grandparents, Mrs. Gladys Lemler, Nappanee, and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Teeter, Rl, Bremen, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Avery, Syracuse. Services were today (Wednesday) at 11a.m., at the First Church of God, with the Rev. Robert Fields and the Rev. Brent Farmer of-’ ficiating. Burial was at Bremen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Deric Lemler Memorial Fund. Envelopes are available at the Thompson k Yoder Funeral Home, which had charge of arrangements. E. Jack Slabaugh Sept 9,1919- Oct. 28,1905 E. Jack Slabaugh, 66, 303 S. Franklin St., Mentone, died Monday morning, October 28, after a lengthy illness. He had been a patient at South Bend Memorial Hospital. Born September 12, 1919, at Nappanee, be was the son of Tobias and Amanda (Yoder) Slabaugh. He had resided in Bourbon for most of his life, before moving to Warsaw and then Mentone. He married Phyllis Blue on November 22, 1941, at Mentone, and she survives. He was retired from Zimmer, Inc., Warsaw, and was a member of the Pleasant View Bible Church. Surviving with Mrs. Slabaugh are two daughters: Mrs. Tim (Joann) Utter, Mentone, and Mrs. Richard (Janet) Aker, Warsaw; six grandchildren; four brothers: Levi, Dan and Simon, all of Nappanee, and Ray, Texas; three sisters: Fannie Slabaugh and Mrs. Andy (Clara) Chupp, Nappanee, and Lydia Yoder, Rolette, North Dakota. Friends may call at the King Memorial Home, Mentone, after 2p.m. Wednesday (today), and services will take place Thursday at 16:31a.m., at the home, with the Rev. Ivan French officiating. Burial will be at Mentone Cemetery. Vernon Welty Sept. 26,1864 - Oct. 25,19 H Services were held Sunday afterneon at the Thompson k Yoder Funeral Home, for Vernon Welty. Mr. Welty, 91, of Elkhart, formerly of Nappanee, died Friday, October M, at Fountainview Place, Elkhart, after an illness of five years. Metzler conducted services Sunday afternoon, at the Thompson and Yoder Funeral Home, with burial at Union Center Cemetery. Ralph Maust Oct. 1,1897-Oct 21,1986 Ralph Z. “Pete” Maust, 88, 301 W. Walnut St., Nappanee, died Monday, October 21, at Elkhart General Hospital, where be had been a patient for one day. Born October 1,1897, In Nappanee, he married Mary Rector on April 26, 1919. She died December 9,1931. His second marriage was to Mary Leslie Mellinger on March 14,1936. Mrs. Maust survives, as do two daughters: Mrs. Robert (Freda) LaMar, Snowhill, Maryland, and Mrs. Carlyle (Rosemary) Hemminger, Bristol; a son, John, Nappanee; two stepsons: Paul Mellinger, Elkhart, and Delbert Mellinger, Ashland, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; li great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. William (Mary) Hochstetler, Nappanee, and a brother, fjauy Maust, Woodstock, New York. Services were conducted by the Rev. Alvin Shifflett and the Rev. Ron App, Friday morning, at the First Brethren Church, with burial at South Union Cemetery. Mr. Maust was a farmer, retiring in 1973, when he moved into the city jof-Nappanee. He was a member of the First Brethren Church, Nappanee. Memorials may be made to the church, or to the Nappanee Public Library. Ruth E. Stough Dec. 21,1899-Oct. 24,1985 Ruth E. Stough, 85, 451 E. Marion St., Nappanee, and a Brazil resident for 60 years, died Thursday, October 24, at Elkhart General Hospital. Born December 21,1899, in Laßue County, Kentucky, she moved to Indiana in 1906 with her parents, the late Chesley and Luzaney Morris Elkin. While a resident of Brazil, she was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death in 1967 by her husband, James Stough, a son, Arthur Stough, who died in 1980, and a sister and two brothers. Following her husband’s death, she moved to Northern Indiana, to be closer to her children. Surviving are two daughters: Lucille Minnlck, Bremen, and Rebecca Wentz, Nappanee; a sister, Nancy Archer, Brazil; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday morning in the Miller Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. James C. Baker, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial followed, in Union Cemetery, east of Hoosierville. Doris M. Keyser Feb. 7,1916-Oct. 24,1966 Doris M. Keyser, 69, 64981 Dogwood Rd., Wakarusa, died Thursday morning, October 24, at Elkhart General Hospital. She had been ill since October 1. Born February 7, 1916, in Mishawaka, she was the daughter of Raleigh and Mary (Moore) Walker. She married Homer Wisler on July 2, 1937, in Mishawaka, and he died April 14,1969. Her second marriage was to Clarence O. Keyser on December 7,1974, In Mishawaka. Surviving with Mr. Keyser are

three daughters: Mrs. Charles Allen (Shirley) Weaver, Nappanee; Mrs. Stephen (Nancy) Elliott, Nappanee, and Mrs. George (Christine) Clemens, Nappanee; two sons: Larry Wisler, Wakarusa, and Terry Wisler, Hemet, California; three sisters: Mrs. Everett (Bertha) Letter, Osceola; Mrs. Charles (Doonabell) Rickert, Osceola, and Mrs. Jim (Mary) Brunner, South Bend; five brothers: Calvin (Tab), Elkhart; Don, Mishawaka; Raleigh, North Manchester; Herb, Van Wert, Ohio, and Bob, California; 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death. Mrs. Keyser was a homemaker and was formerly employed at lehmans and Stahlys Processing Plant, Wakarusa. She was a member of the Coalbush United Methodist Church, Mishawaka. The Rev. Mark Fenstermacber, of the Coalbush Church, and the Rev. Merle Pederson, of the Wakarusa Bible Baptist Church, conducted services Saturday afternoon, at the Coalbush Church, with burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice. Vesta T. Kellogg June 5,1898-Oct 36,1986 Mrs. Vesta T. Kellogg, 87, 358 S. Nappanee St., Nappanee, died Saturday, October 26, at Millers Merry Manor, Wakarusa, where she had resided since October 1. She had been ill for the past week. Born June 5, 1898, in Salamanca, New York, she was the daughter of Bill and Minnie L. Neugart Schultz. She married George C. Kellogg in 1918, and he died on February 12, 1965. Mrs. Kellogg was a licensed practical nurse, a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Nappanee, and a former member of the Nappanee War Mothers organization. Surviving are a son, George W. Kellogg, Nappanee; a daughter, Mrs. Gene (Wilma) Cushing, Northville, Michigan; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A brother, Stewart Schultz, preceded her in death. A memorial mass was conducted Tuesday at 6:30p.m., at St. Isidore Church, by the Rev. Walter Bly, with a graveside service at Bremen Cemetery, Tuesday at 11a.m. The Thompson k Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, had charge of arrangements. William Lechlitner Jan. 8,1892-Oct. 27,1986 William W. Lechlitner, 93, 62561 CRIS, Elkhart, died Sunday morning, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa, where he was a resident since July 25. Mr. Lechlitner was born January 8,1892, in Elkhart County, and married Lucy Billman on December 19, 1914, in Goshen. She died in 1952. His second marriage was to Thelma Weaver on December 24,1954. She survives, as do a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Esther) Sowers, LaGrange; a son, Mervin L., Wakarusa; a stepdaughter, Mrs. LaVerne (Wanda) Miller, New Paris; a stepson, Lewis E. Weaver, Wakarusa; nine grandchildren; 11

Mr. ixehitfw was a fanner also worked as a carpenter for George B. Moyer and Ollie McDowell. He was a member of the Olive Mennontte Church, and was a cemetery sexton for the church. Services were held this morning (Wednesday), at the Olive Mennonite Church, with Bishop J.C. Wenger and the Rev. Phil Helmuth officiating. Burial was at Olive East Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Arrangements were by Lienhart Funeral Home In Wakarusa. Edna Truex Dec. 3,1905-Oct. 37,1966 Edna Lucille Truex, 79, 30472 CR42, Wakarusa, died Sunday morning at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa, where she was admitted June 23. She had been in failing health for one year. She was born December 3,1905, in Kosciusko County. As Edna L. Sylvester, she married Harvey W. Truex on January 7, 1925. He died July 13,1978. Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Ralph (Bernice) Laymon, Dowagiac, Michigan, and Mrs. Roger (Joan) Raymer, Goshen; five sons: DeVon, Ronald, Alva and Richard, all of Wakarusa, and George, Goshen; a brother, Edward Sylvester, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded her in death. Mrs. Truex had sold Tupperware, and was a member of the Wakarusa United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. She was a Sunday School teacher, and president of the Methodist Women’s Society. She was an affiliate member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of North Port, Florida. A private family prayer service was held this afternoon, (Wednesday) at the Lienhart Funeral Home, Wakarusa. Following the prayer service, the funeral was held at the Wakarusa United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bob Priest and Elder Elias Sarber officiating. Burial was at South Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Wakarusa Ambulance Service, the Wakarusa United Methodist Church, and the Elkhart County Cancer Society.
