GC seeking plays on peace issues One-act plays that address contemporary issues of peace are being sought for a contest sponsored by the Goshen College Communication Department. The Goshen College Peace Playwriting Contest 1983 is made possible by a gift of money from the Disciples of Peace, a charitable fellowship in Middlebury. The contest is open to all interested persons, but members of historic peace churches are especially encouraged to enter. Scripts entered in the competition should be unpublished and unproduced. They must be postmarked no later than Dec. 31, 1983, and sent to contest coordinator Lauren Friesen, assistant professor of drama, Goshen College, Goshen, IN 46526. The winner of the contest, to be announced by May 1, 1984, will receive a prize of SSOO. Goshen College will hold all production rights to the play for two years, after which control will revert to the author. Last year’s GC Peace Playwriting Contest drew 16 entries. It was won by Norman A. Bert, a Quaker assistant professor of communication at Eastern Montana College, for his drama entitled “The Dove, the Hawk and the Phoenix .”
