The Pta&fterian Nursery School Starts Season The PheSbyterian Nursery School has started its seventh year with a Registration coffee Wednesday, September 11, at the First Presbyterain Church. Open House will be held Thursday, September 12, (today) from 1 to 3 p.m. The teachers will; be Mrs. Philip Cripe and Mi's. Robert Schmeltz. The children who will be attending the morning sessions are: Shelly Suter, Lisa Paugh, Lisa Averill, Beth Hockert, ’ Tracy Stump, Pebbles Huber, Jena Eads, Jody Anglin, Mike Cowan, Rod Stump, Kevin Riley, Mike Rock, J. R. Hawkins, Scot McDonald, Tod> Beer, Kregg Deiner (all of Nappanee) and Dorma Parcell, Sheri Steiner, Kath£ Strcyker, Tammy Eby and Lad Letherman of Wakarusa. ln the afternoon group are: Andrea Biller, Lisa Schmeltz, Sandra Prins, Kami Kane, Nella -Darkwood, Kim Reiser, Joy Heisel, Lori Deiterlen, Lee Droze, Brenda Er- • vin, Tim Fink, John Moore, Tom Richiriond, David Lehman, Matt Rush, Alan Chapman, David Haines, Chuckie Frederick, Tod Hockert, Bunky Musser and Doug Weaver. LEGibfJ auxiliary meets The American Legion Auxiliary met at the Legion Home, Monday September 9th, with President, Betty Holderman presiding. Membership chairman, Dorothy Forsythe, reported 182 dues paid. September 15 is Knightstown Home Day, membership round up and deadline to secure our membership quota. The following committee can be contacted for outstanding dues: June Stouder. Betty Holderman and Dorothy Forsythe, chairman. The president welcomed old and new members and especially guest Garnett Tobias from Arizona. A letter to the Auxiliary from Bea Tobias in California was also read. Special recognition was given junior member Teresa Lingofelter for her outstanding Junior History book by Past District Historian Madlin Culp. Teresa was presented an Indiana charm and a check from the District Department. Madlin Culp, chairman, reported on ditty bags to be sent to our servicelnen arid asked *f3b more drtidfcS or money to " purchase articles. Local Union 3138 presented the chairman with a much needed $25 check. Contact Mrs. Keiineth Culp if you wish to support this worthy effort. The Auxiliary wishes to bring to the attention of its members and the public that September 17 is Constitution Day and the American Flag would be displayed. The Blood Bank will be in Nappanee again on October Bth and on October 20th the Auxiliary plans to have a rummage sale at the Legion Lottie. The president named Bette Witt, Mary Knobel and Dorothy Gayer to assist the American Legion remodeling committee. CAMP CREEK HOMECOMING " •*' ’ * The homecoming at the Camb Creek Church of the Brethren will be Sunday, September 22. The church is located on 19 south df Nappanee. There will be a basket dinner at noon. Rev. Stephen KJitlinger, Syracuse will be the speaker. Mrs. Kitlinger will present special music. The business meeting of the church has been postponed until September 23 due to Rev. Kilmer holding revival services at the Mt. Pleasant Church. UNION CENTER Mrs. Roger Reiser Mrs. Sam Etsinger is in the Mary Manor Nursing Home in Warsaw. The Union Grove Brethren in Christ Church is having a farewell for Rev. and Mrs. David Wenger Sunday afternoon from 2:30 to 4:30 P.M. in the church basement. All friends and neighbors are invited to attend. The Wengers will be moving next week to Mooretown, Michigan where they will be serving a church. 4 Mrs. Marvin Mishler was elected president of the Homemakers Guild. Other officers are Mrs. Umbaugh, vice-president, Mrs. Dan Iffert, secretary, Mrs. Kenneth Smith, assistant secretary, Mrs. Robert Cripe, treasurer, Mrs. Harvey Moneyheffer, assistant treasurer. Mrs. Bertha Culp and the Joyce Culp family attended‘the Sam Culp reunion Sunday at the McNaughton Park in Elkhart. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rummel and Mrs. Phil Hahn were Sunday afternoon callers at the Roger Hahns. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Miller Visited Mrs. Dan Nissley Friday evening. Jake Miller went to the Shoals Mission in Southern Indiana Sunday to preach at the morning service. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Brubacher and Steve, Jasper arid Mrs. Amanda Tobias called on Mr. and Mrs. Herriian Miller of Centerville, Michigan Sunday afternoon. The Homer Miller family called on the Lamar Hershberger family Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rummel attended the Township 4-H Committee • meeting Monday evening at the Veloris Neff home. Elizabeth Becker And Wilbur Hershberger Wed Elizabeth Becker, daghter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Becker of Aberdeen, Idaho, became the bride of Wilbur L. Hershberger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hershberger of Nappanee. The wedding took place July 6, <at the First Mennonite Church in Aberdeen with Rev. Wilfred Ulrich officiating. Mrs. Clarence Schroeder vvals organist and Mrs. Roland Isaak was pianist for the ceremony. The bride wore a gown of ivory crepe trimmed with Venice lace. The matching chapel length train was attached at the empire waistline. The elbow length veil fell from a bow which matched her gown. She carried a bouquet of stephanptis centered around her going away corsage of white baby roses, and a small leather bound Bible. Martha Becker, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a striped dress of gold and shades of bink with matching bow headpiece and carried a bouquet of gold pompoms. Gary Unruh was best man. The ushers were Roland Isaak, Darvin Yoder, Leroy Renner and Milton Becker. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Wedel served as host and hostess for the reception. Mrs. Dennis Harris as-
sisted at the guest book. At the gift table were Rachel Becker and Mary Louise Wedel. Gift carriers were Rosetta Hershberger, Donald Becker and David Wedel. Ruth Wedel was in charge of flowers. Mrs. Carl Wenger and daughter Anne served the cake. Mrs. David Becker presided at the punch bowl with Mrs. John Becker at the coffee service. The new Mrs. Hershberger is a 1967 graduate of Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas, where she majored in elementary education. During the past year she held a teaching position in Topeka. Kansas and will teach in the Newton school system this year. Mr. Hershberger, a former stu: dent at Goshen College, has served under PAX in Algeria for 2 years. He is currently a senior at Bethel College majoring in industrial arts education. The couple took a trip through Teton country to their new home in North Newton, Kansas. SERVING IN JAPAN Ale Roger L. Boettger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Boettger, Nappanee, is currently in Tachikowa,, Japan, where he is attending Air-Craft Maintairiance School for four weeks. Airman Boettger, has previously been stationed at the Udorn Royal Thai AFB, in Thailand and Andrews AFB, on the island of Guam, while'on an 18 month tour of duty overseas.
Reorganization Meeting At Mt. Tabor Mr. Paul Wise, of Wise’s Furniture Store, was selected at the new reorganization meeting of the Mt. Tabor Church of God, as the President of the Churcff Council for the coming Church year. Mr. Wise serves on the Council as the Financial Secretary of the Church and was selected by members of the Council as its President. Mr. Lowell Anglin, R. 2, Nappanee, was Selected as the Vice-president of the Council for the coming year. Also Mr. Anglin was selected as the Youth Director for the coming year for the Church. Mr. Dick Carrick of R. 2, was selected as the Assistant Youth Director. Other committees were appointed at this meeting also. Other members of the Church Council are: Mr. Floyd Anglin, Mr. Russ Yeager, Mr. Wilfred Wise, Mr. Everet Fike, Mr. Dave Bone, Mr. Buell Hoffer, Mr. Ernest Parks, Mr, Lloyd Mikel, Mr. Max Martin, Mrs. Ernest Good, and Mrs. Max Beery, and the Pastor of the Church, Rev. Darrell Prichard. W. C. T. U. The W.C.T.U. will meet Friday. September 13 ategjOO P.M. at the Church of ttetf tyn County Road 7.
