John Corrigan. about 60 years of age. a cartman. was brutal ly murdered by his son Frank, aged 3!1 years, while he slept. Janesrille, Wis. Thomas B. Lenhey, ex-registry clerk in the post office in this city, was arrested on the charge of having used 1 101. 96 that belonged to the I'nited States government. Decatur. 111. Delirious from a tendays' attack of typhoid fever. Marion Simpson with a razor attempted to commit suicide, slashing his throat four times. West Superior. Wis. Henry Eigner, VU years of age, was found dead in a room at the State Line hotel, with a bullet hole in the back of his head. It is believed he committed suicide. Ioiig Grove, ill. The poatoSce was entered by burglars and $300 was taken from the safe. No trace of the robbers has been found. Hammond. Ind. Felix Heinemann. 14 yeat old fod of Carl Heinemann, has been hetd to the criminal court of Lake County, Indiana, on a c harge of grand larceny preferred by his father. Felix Confessed to stealing a large sum of money from his father and squandering it at Cheltenham Beach and other resorts in Chicago. Memphis, Tenn. The fifth trial of A. K. Ward, charged with forging notes to the amount of nearly $250,000, resulted in a verdict of guilty, and he was sentenced to three years in the penitentiary. Baltimore John Restino, 30 years old, and John Muscolino, 32 years old, had a quarrel which resulted in a duel with stilettos, in which Restino was killed after having slightly wounded his antagonist. Burlington, Iowa Herman F. Winkler, a letter-carrier, is in Jail charged with Mealing a valuable letter. He confessed his crime.

All New York is astir over the visit of Horatio David Davie.-, lord mayor of London, who in company with his daughter. Mis. Davies. will make a tour of the United States. The fact that this Is the first time that any one occupying the civil office has come here during his incumbency makes this call one of note as well as of friendliness. Mr. Davies was born in London in 1842. and is therefore ." years of age. He is the son of H. 1). Davies of the ward of Bishopgate. and received his education at Dttlwicfa college. Part of this increase was due to speculation at New York, but there remains a health; increase over the best of previous years, and though in some branches business is not satisfactory in character, nearly all it is in volume larger than ever before.
