MRS EVA CONRAD PASSES AWAY AT HOME HERE

Mrs. Eva Conrad died at her him* here at 12:45 Saturday, September 21, following a short illness. Mrs. Conrad had been a resilient of DeMotte for the past 20 years. She was born al Shcrburnville, Illinois, on February 1, 1880. She was 66 years. 8 months and 20 days of age at the time of her death. Eva Grimes Conrad, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Grimes. She was married to Roy Forrest Conrad on January 1, 1902. For some time they made their home in the Sherburnville community, then at Hebron. A number of years ago they came to DeMotte to make their home and she has lived here ever since. Here she endeared herself to the many friends and acquaintances who came to know her because of her many kindnesses and hetfriendliness. She was an active member of the Methodist Church all of her life. In her youth she was active in the work of the Epworth League. She was an officer and leader in the Ladies’ Aid Society for many years. When its work became the Women’s Society of Christian Service her interest and service continued. She served as the leader of the Quilting Circle for many years. She was active in the Sunday School and served as Cradle Roll superintendent for 20 years or more. She was also a teacher in the Sunday School for a number of years. Besides her family she will be missed by a wide circle of fast friends made through the years. Woore, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Swanson, Mr. and Mrs. "ill Koester of Momence, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Ceylon Grimes, Mrs. Lettie Grimes and children of Grant Park; Mr. and Mrs. Manson Wheeler of Momence, 111.; Mr. and Mrs. Gordie Starkey of Kouts; Mr and Mrs. George Heil of Tefft; Mr. and Mrs. FFrank Strickland of East Chicago; Mr. Frsfnk Spaulding of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bailey, Miss May Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. George Bailey of Lowell; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Grimes of Gary; Herman Eggert and mother of Hebron; Mr. and Mrs. David Spencer of Rensselaer; Mrs. Anna Guernsey of Hebron; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rantz of Chebanse, 111. The following children survive Mrs. Conrad: Alva Cohrad. Valparaiso, Ind., Velma Martin, Fair Oaks, Ind., Virgil Conrad, Momence, Illinois, Madge Hanford. Bensselaer. Ind., Marjorie Hanaway, Hebron, Ind., Boy Conrad Jr., DeMotte, 7 grandchildren and two greatgranchildren. She is also survived by the following brothers, and sisters: Joseph Grimes, Bradley, Illinois, Maude Woore, Waterloo, lowa. Mary Woore, Momence, Illinois, Barbara Swanson, Momence, Illinois, Ceylon Grimes, Grant Park; Mrs. Sylvia Koester of Momence, 111. Funeral services for Mrs. Conrad were held at 2 p. m., Monday, September 23, at the DeMptte Methodist Church. Bev. W. D. Archibald officiating.. Burial was at Sherburnville, Illinois.

The Todd Funeral Home of DeMotte was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
